Gourmet Tuna Casserole Recipe
If you don’t know how to make tuna casserole it’s time to learn. This one quick lesson is all it takes to get you on your way to making one of the most quintessential American dishes.

Shop all of your ingredients at
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 bunch asparagus
5 oz. cremini mushrooms
2 cans Giant Eagle tuna, chunk light, in water
4 oz. Giant Eagle unsalted butter
¼ cup Giant Eagle all-purpose flour
2 cup Giant Eagle whole milk
2 tsp. kosher salt, divided
¼ tsp. ground black pepper
8 oz. Market District fusilli
½ cup Giant Eagle grated parmesan
1 cup Giant Eagle heavy cream
½ cup Market District Italian seasoned bread crumbs
Like many classic family recipes, tuna casserole became a staple because with just 15 or so minutes of prep you’re on your way to a meal that everyone will love and get plenty of to eat. It’s warm, hearty, flavorful and has the perfect balance of creaminess from the butter, milk and cream and a light crunch from the oven-baked breadcrumbs. An argument can easily be made that tuna noodle casserole is the ultimate comfort food.
Said to be an invention of the Campbell’s Soup company in the 1950s, some sources also claim tuna casserole’s origin was decades earlier somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. That’s an understandable possibility given the region’s well-documented love of, and easy access to, seafood. It’s not much of a stretch to think that someone decided to try a new way to prepare leftovers perhaps.
