Very tasty. We did not make the icing as we were slimming!! However , as usual, the recipe is below, and is for both.
Ingredients 1 Cup oil 2 Cups sugar 3 eggs - whole 1 Cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon of baking soda 1 Cup chopped nuts 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon allspice 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 Cups flour 1 Cup chopped prunes
Directions Mix oil , eggs and sugar. Then add milk and dry ingredients alternatively. Add prunes and nuts and bake at 300f or 150 c In oblong tin. ICING 1 cup sugar 1 tablespoon syrup ( any) Half cup buttermilk1 teaspoon vanilla Half teaspoon of baking soda Quarter to half cup of margarine Boil until it forms a soft ball and spread on cake while cake is still warm

Cake 25 prunes chopped, about 7 oz 1 cup buttermilk 1 cup oil, I used vegetable 1 ½ cups white sugar 3 eggs 2 cups all purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon allspice 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon vanilla
Buttermilk Glaze ½ cup buttermilk 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup ¾ cup sugar ½ teaspoon baking soda 6 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon vanilla
Do not use a mixer for this cake. Prep a 13” x 9 “ pan by lining it with parchment paper. Pre heat oven to 325 degrees . In bowl 1 - Chop the prunes and stir in the buttermilk.
In bowl 2 - mix together eggs, oil, sugar and vanilla.
In bowl 3 - mix flour, soda, and spices.
Stir together the prune mixture with the eg mixture. Stir in the dry ingredients.
Pur into the pan and bake for 45-50 minutes until done.
While the cake is cooking, prepare the glaze. Mix glaze ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stirring constantly.
When the cake is done, poke holes into the top of the cake with a skewer. Drizzle hot glaze over cake. Allow cake to cool before serving

How to Make French Custard Prune Cake | Far Breton Recipe
Far Breton is a classic French dessert, a specialty from Brittany. It’is a dried fruit flan recipe, or better said a rich and dense prune custard. It's very easy to make and it’s the perfect snack! Enjoy!
2 cups (500g) milk vanilla 5 medium eggs (250g) ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar 1 ⅓ stick of butter (150g) 1 cup (110g) pastry flour 2 tbsp (30g) rhum 1 ½ cup (190g) pitted prunes softened butter
● Steps:
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Heat milk and vanilla on medium low. Mix eggs and sugar. Add the melted butter when it reaches 113-122°F (45-50 °C). Add the rhum. Add and sift the flour. Pour the milk over.
3. Place the pitted prunes in the baking pan. Pour the mixture over the prunes.
4. Bake for 40-45 minutes.
● Tips:
1. Grease the baking pan with softened butter and line it with parchment paper. In case you’re using a springform pan, wrap it in aluminium foil to avoid possible leaks.
2. Keep it in the fridge.
