How To make Red Velvet Cake2
2 c Sugar
1 c Butter
2 Eggs
1 tb Vinegar
1 tb Cocoa
2 1/2 c Flour
1/2 ts Salt
1 1/2 ts Soda
2 oz Red food coloring
1 c Buttermilk
1 t Vanilla
WHITE ICING:
1/4 c Flour
1 c Sweet milk
4 oz Margarine
1/2 c Crisco
1 c White sugar
1 t Vanilla
(Note: Make base for icing the night before making cake.) Preheat oven 350 degrees. Grease and dust with cocoa three 9 inch cake pans. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and beat until fluffy. Make paste from cocoa and vinegar and add to butter mixture. Sift salt and soda with flour. Add to mixture alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla and coloring. Bake at 350 degrees about 25-30 minutes. Makes 3 layers. White Icing for Red Velvet Cake 1/4 cup flour 1 cup sweet milk
Cook over low heat until smooth paste and let cool. Cover and put in the refrigerator over night. Cream together: 1 stick margarine 1/2 cup Crisco 1 cup white sugar 1
t. vanilla Beat until fluffy. Add paste and beat together and spread on tops only of cool cakes. Refrigerate!

Red Velvet Cake Recipe
Ingredients
Eggs 2 Pieces
Sugar 180 gm
All-Purpose Flour 170 gm
Oil 135 gm
Yogurt 60 gm
Milk 50 gm
Lemon Juice 10 gm
Vinegar 4 gm
Baking Soda 5 gm
Baking Powder 5 gm
Vanilla Essence ½ tsp
Orange Essence ½ tsp
Milkyz Food Red Color As required
For Frosting
Icing Sugar 250 gm
Butter 250 gm
Cream Cheese 250 gm
Method
Take oil, milk, sugar, yogurt and eggs in a bowl and beat it well with the beater. Then add lemon juice and vinegar in it. Now add orange essence and vanilla essence in the mixture. Then add all-purpose flour, baking powder and baking soda in it. At the end add Milkyz Food Red Color and bake it at 170° for 25 to 30 minutes.
For Frosting: Beat butter and sugar well in a bowl till it comes fluffy. Now add cream cheese in it and use it for frosting of the cake.

Red Velvet cake is a family favorite. Watching the matriarchs in my family work magic using a box cake mix was aahh inspiring. Whether it was simply adding an extra egg to the mix or substituting one ingredient for another, my mother and her sister's worked wonders in the kitchen.

Red Velvet Cake
1 Box Red Velvet Cake Mix; 15.25 oz box (I use Betty Crocker)
1 C. Buttermilk
1/2 C. Vegetable Oil
1/2 C. Water
1 t. White Distilled Vinegar (5% Acidity)
3 Large Eggs at Room Temperature
Bake in (2) 8x8 pans @ 325 degrees 30-35 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
Cake can also be baked in (2) 9x9 pans or 13x9 pan. Adjust baking time according to box directions.
Cool completely before icing.
Cream Cheese Frosting
1- 8 oz. block Cream Cheese (completely soften)
1 & 1/2 Sticks Soft Salted Butter (12 Tablespoons)
1 & 1/2 C. Confection's Sugar
1 t. Vanilla Extract
(1-2 Tablespoons of milk if need be)
Refrigerate frosting while cake cools. Also, be sure to refrigerate any leftover cake.
