How To make Cape Cod Cranberry Bread Bake

french bread loaf, or italian trimmed of crusts, cut in thin slices

heavy cream, whipped
Directions:
From Massachusettes' Cape. Delightfully different for Thanksgiving,
Finely grate the peel from the orange. Remove the skin and membranes for the orange. Section the orange and cut each section across into thin slices. Combine the orange peel, orange slices, cranberries 1 1/2 cups sugar and the water in a medium saucepan. Heat to boiling; reduce the heat.
Simmer covered 10 minutes. Remove cover and continue to cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Preheat the oven to 325F. Beat the eggs with the cinnamon in a large bowl until light. Beat in the remaining 3/4 cup sugar, the milk and 1/2 cup cream, Grand Marnier liqueur and vanilla.
Place a layer of bread over the bottom of a buttered 2 qt souffle dish. Using a ladle, add enough egg mixture to cover the bread. Spoon one third of all the cranberry mixture over the top.
Repeat the layers two more times, adding all the egg mixture to the dish before spooning on the last third of the cranberries. Bake until firm, about 1 hour.
Serve slightly warm or at room temperature with heavy cream.

Grease an 8 inch baking pan.
Bake for 35-40 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit
You don't need to use a mixer if you don't have one. Just mix all ingredients into mixing bowl.

Cranberry Butter
Yummy Cranberry Butter - Spread on warm cornbread or toast!
Here’s what you need:
3/4 cup frozen cranberries
1/2 cup orange juice
2 sticks butter
In a small pot on medium heat bring orange juice and cranberries to a boil. Allow to boil for 10 minutes, then let simmer. Squish cranberries with the back of a slotted spoon. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
Using a hand mixer, combine cranberry sauce and 2 sticks of butter. (Butter should be soft but not melted). Mix until well combined.
Spoon cranberry butter into a lidded jar or container and store in the refrigerator.

Today is a departure for me... going with the Home part of Harmony Hills Home and Garden. I'm baking Cranberry Orange Nut Bread today, as a Thanksgiving weekend treat.
The recipe I used was this one:
I didn't have buttermilk, so I substituted sour cream and 2% milk. I didn't have oranges so I substituted clementines. I used pecans.
It turned out delicious! Highly recommend!
