HAM & CHEESE CALZONES
(Makes 6)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
1 large cookie sheet
1 (10-ounce) package frozen PUFF PASTRY SHALLS, thaw in refrigerator overnight
2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard
Deli Ham (4-ounces), sliced, cut into strips
3 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced
White Sharp Cheddar Cheese (4-ounces), thinly sliced or grated
Colby Cheese (4-5 ounces), sliced or grated
6 olives or more, your favorite
6 Salami slices, your favorite, cut into quarts
2 tablespoons milk/cream or egg wash (1 egg whisk with 1-2 teaspoons of water)
1. Roll out each puff pastry shell (if need to dust surface lightly with flour) into 4-inch rounds. Brush top edges of pastry with egg wash, about 1/4-inch from outside edges.
2. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard in center of each pastry. Layer with cheese, onion, an olive, ham, salami, and a little more cheese. Fold Pastry in half to seal edges. Using a fork press edges together. Vent each pastry, on top, using fork to prick holes once or twice to allow steam to escape.
3. Brush each Calzone with egg wash. Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown in color. Cool on cooling racks.
4. Serve warm or at room temperature.
TIPS: Can be baked 2-3 hours before serving or refrigerate (covered) overnight before baking. Heat in microwave for 10-15 seconds to warm, if desired.
