This beautiful cake is paired with a Crème Fraiche, a delicious finish to the sweet pears and the rich, buttery texture of the cake. The secret to the deliciousness of the cake, is the addition of classic French brown. Brown butter, also known as Beurre Noisette, adds a delicious nutty flavor that can be revealed through careful rendering.

Pear & Walnut Teatime Cake | Heartful Cooking
You will find this cake quick to put together for a tea party or simply for a weekend breakfast treat. It has a crunchy topping with brown sugar, butter, and walnuts, yet moist from the sour cream and pears.
If you don't have sour cream you can easily substitute it with full fat yoghurt. Sour Cream adds an extra level of richness and personally I prefer adding full fat sour cream as opposed to low fat. :o)
This recipe is also easily doubled for a more servings.
