How to make Picadillo in English
Gaijin makes Picadillo with white rice
Picadillo is a Spanish dish I learned to cook from my mother. Most of her sisters and her mother also cooked this dish. There are many different ways to make it ~ this is my version.
Ingredients:
1 - 2 lbs. hamburger meat
1 - 2 jars or cans of spaghetti sauce (you can also use plain tomato sauce)
1 - 2 tablespoons minced garlic
salt
pepper
pitted green olives (sliced or whole)
Rice (white, brown or yellow ~ which ever you prefer)
1. Cook your rice per package directions
2. While rice is cooking, brown the hamburger meat & drain the excess oil.
3. On medium heat, add the garlic, salt, and pepper to the hamburger meat
4. Add the spaghetti sauce ~ this is according to your taste as to how much you should add.
5. let it simmer approximately 5 minutes uncovered.
6. taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed
7. add pitted green olives, the amount you add is per your taste. Let simmer approximately 5 minutes uncovered.
8. Serve over rice.

It is made with ground beef, tomatoes, raisins, olives, and other ingredients that vary by region. It is often served with rice or used as a filling in dishes such as tacos, savory pastries or croquettes. However, the Picadillo de Zamboanga varies in many ways. It is cooked with Pig Lungs, Heart and Radish. I like eating it as it is with no rice. I really hope you like it too. Recipe:
1kg boiled Pigs lungs and heart - Minced
1cup red and green bell peppers - Chopped
3cup radish - sliced thinly
3tbsp fish sauce
3tbsp soy sauce
1 bayleaf
1/2 cup chopped onions
5pcs chopped garlic
1/3 cup vinegar or more depending on your taste
Salt and Pepper to taste.

This is my version of Mexican picadillo. You can add any veggies you like, but here is an easy delicious way to make it. This recipe is also makes a great filling for Chile Rellenos. INGREDIENTS: 1 lb lean ground beef, 1 potato, half of a medium size onion, 1 zucchini, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 can of corn, 1 chicken or beef flavored bullion cube, 1/2 tsp ground cumin, 1/2 to 1 cup water, pinch of salt and pepper

My Family's Cuban Picadillo Recipe!

INGREDIENTS
- 1-1.3 lbs Lean Ground beef (92-93% lean)
- 0.75-1 whole bell pepper (green or red)
- 1 medium white onion
- 6-8 cloves of garlic, depending on size
- 8 oz of tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup manzanilla olives (including the brine)
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1.5 tsp ground oregano
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- salt
DIRECTIONS
1. In a medium pot over medium heat, add olive oil and allow it to heat up.
2. Dice the onion, peppers, and the garlic (or optionally, use a garlic press on the garlic).
3. Add the peppers and the onions to the pot - it should sizzle. Add some salt and sweat the onions (~5 minutes).
4. Add the garlic, mix, and let sit for 2-3 minutes or until fragrant.
5. Add the meat directly into the pot. Add salt, oregano, and cumin. Mix to loosely incorporate the spices and the meat.
6. After the meat has browned a bit (~5 mins), add the tomato sauce, raisins, and olives. Mix and allow to cook for at least another 10 minutes.
7. Once the meat is an even brown color, it's ready to plate! You can let the meat simmer on low for longer, which will improve the flavor!
