Classic Meat Loaf Recipe| Family Dinners | Easy Recipe
What are we eating? Meat Loaf!
Now come on, let’s not act like we are too good for meat loaf. Are you kidding? Meat loaf is a #familydinner classic that you can make any night of the week with ingredients you most likely have in your pantry. Let’s face it...we are avoiding the stores as much as possible these days, so if you have some ground beef, or ground turkey, and a few other ingredients, you will have a classic, delicious #meatloafrecipe. Check out my #shorts video for classic meat loaf that became a hit on tiktok.
Recipe
2 lbs. ground beef, turkey, or chicken (adjust cooking times for leaner meats)
*(use 80/20 or 85/15 ground beef. Too lean will give you a dry meat loaf)
2 large eggs
1/2 cup ketchup
Chopped bell pepper (~1 cup) mix and match peppers for color variety and flavor.
Med. chopped onion
Seasoning: ~1-2 tbsp. each
Kosher salt
Black pepper
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Grated parmesan cheese
Bread crumbs
Sweet and Spicy Sauce
1 1/2 cups ketchup
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. sweet chili sauce
(*Amounts are simply a suggestion. Please adjust to your personal taste.)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Sauté bell peppers and onions in oil. Let cool.
Season ground meat with dry seasonings
Add ketchup, and both eggs
Add cooled vegetables to meat
Mix ground meat just until ingredients are combined. Do not overmix.
Form meat into a loaf shape in a baking pan.
*Use a larger baking pan to allow the fat to run out.
Poke 3 holes in the top of the meatloaf to cook evenly.
Cover pan and place in oven at 350 for about an hour.
(Ovens vary so you may only need to cook yours for 50 minutes. Some may need 65.)
*The inside of your meatloaf should reach 165 degrees F.
Take meatloaf out and pour off excess fat.
*Some of the beef juices is ok, but if your loaf is sitting in a pool of fat, pour some off.
Put sauce over the top and sides of your meatloaf.
Put back in the oven for 5 minutes.
Take meatloaf out and let cool before serving.
