Keto Keratin Salmon With a Twist
For the full ingredients, quantities, and of course detailed instructions with nutritional facts, you can visit my website for the official recipe:
Keratin is a word you may have heard about. In our last video, I went into some detail about its wondrous effects as a protein that you should know about—both in terms of what it can do and how to obtain it.
First, keratin is a natural protein that makes up pretty much everything we see when we talk to each another: our hair, skin, nails, eyelashes, beards! What a lot of people aren’t aware of is that it can be taken in supplement form. However, certain vitamins and proteins can ALSO be found in certain foods that boost the production of keratin in our bodies. That leads me to today’s recipe.
In this video, I will be making a delicious Keratin Salmon dish that’s bursting with the nutrients our bodies so desperately crave, including keratin.
Many foods boost keratin production in the human body, and that helps give us amazing benefits like improved hair growth, glowing and more youthful-looking skin, stronger and thicker (and shinier!) hair, and so much more. These keratin-rich foods include meats, fish, asparagus, eggs, nuts, and nut butters. Of course, I am listing Keto-friendly foods here, but the list is long.
Vitamin A is also required for keratin synthesis and can be found in spinach, kale, sweet potatoes, and collards. (They do require a fat source for maximum absorption.)
So, today’s recipe is a Salmon Asparagus Pea Salad. It’s not a complicated recipe, and it’s bound to have a unique effect on your health and well-being.
*It is very important to note that due to time restraints and in order to make sure this video recipe got posted in time (the request for salmon recipe was overwhelming) we were not able to find the wild caught Salmon in our location so we improvised and used this salmon for demonstrating purposes. Wild caught is key in anyone’s health journey - and as we all have learned - plan ahead and make sure you source the best ingredients for yourself and your family.
We’re going to be using the following ingredients: salmon (farmed, due to the above, but please use wild), olive oil, broccoli, peas, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, scallions, shitake mushrooms, parsley, avocado oil-based mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, MCT oil, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, ghee, sea salt and black pepper, garlic, turmeric, and a little bonus ingredient, which you’ll see at the end of the video.
Creamy salads are hearty and comforting, but some recipes are often heavy on dairy, an ingredient that many of us do not tolerate very well. This salad incorporates the lactose-free, but still luscious flavor of ghee, or clarified butter, often used in Indian cooking. Along with the delicious, health-boosting fat from the ghee, this recipe also maximizes the precious omega-3 fatty acids found in wild salmon as well as the energy-boosting and fat-burning MCT oils.
While we made a slight variation in the video recipe, it is essentially the same. The ingredients and amounts are identical; I simply chose to cook the salmon differently in the video. That is one of the beauties of my recipes. You can mix and match and add in what you like and even play around with quantities if that’s what you prefer. The recipe and guidelines are not set in stone; the important factor is incorporating the ingredients listed to boost your keratin production and of course, keep your taste buds happy!

Ultimate Fat Burning Keto Pesto
This is our second video recipe about keto pesto. It shouldn’t come as a surprise as it is one of my favorite things to eat. If you haven’t already tried this amazing recipe, I would encourage you to watch our first video, where I put together a very rustic and very delicious pistachio mint pesto. Pesto is one of those foods that is always associated with condiments or garnishes, when it’s anything but. Pesto has always been eaten in small amounts but, I confess, I eat it by the spoonful! Not only because it is incredibly tasty but because it is absolutely packed full of nutritious ingredients. Pesto, in my opinion, shouldn’t be your garnish, it should be your base. Herbs hold a fond place in my heart from my childhood and now as an adult I’ve seen the miraculous health benefits of and curing properties certain herbs possess. In the last recipe we focused on mint, but in this video the green of choice is the wonder herb, cilantro, or coriander as I knew it in my native England.
Cilantro is a potent, yet subtle herb, which is as medicinal as it is nutritious and to top it off, it has a wonderfully distinct flavor. In this recipe we will be combining cilantro as a clean organic source, with jalapeño, pumpkin seeds, garlic, hempseed oil, lemon juice, and much more. This particular pesto I like to prepare in the food processor to give it that silky smoothness so I can spread it on keto bread, use as a base for meats or vegetables or simply enjoy by itself by the spoonful.
This pesto is absolutely jam-packed full of nutrients and super foods, all combined to create a recipe that should be eaten as a salad rather than dabbed sparingly. So dig in and enjoy the taste, enjoy the wonderful health benefits it’s giving you and use it on any food you prepare. And the beauty of it all? If you run out of ideas, just grab a spoon and dig in. ;)
