chocolate spiders
These easy chocolate spiders makes Halloween even more enjoyable. Yummy treats will please kids and grown ups.
Ingredients:
1. 3/4 cup single (pouring) cream
2. 600g dark chocolate, finely chopped
3. 1 cup chocolate sprinkles
4. 90cm (36inch) licorice strap, cut into 30 x 3cm (1 1/4inch) pieces (or use chocolate cup on strips)
5. 60 silver pearls
Method:
1. Place the cream in a small saucepan over high heat and bring to the boil. Place the chocolate in a medium heat-proof bowl and add the cream. Place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and, using a metal spoon, stir until the mixture is smooth. Pour into a lightly greased 20cm x 20cm (8inch x 8inch) tin lined with non-stick baking paper and tap the tin to even the mixture. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours or until firm.
2. Roll tablespoons of the mixture into balls, then roll the chocolate balls in the sprinkles to coat. Press 2 silver pearls onto each ball for the eyes. Cut each 3cm (1 1/4inch) piece of licorice into 6 or 8 strips and press 3 or 4 onto each side of the ball for the legs. Makes 30 chocolate spiders.
Note: To help with rolling the chocolate balls, warm a tablespoon in hot water and dry it before you begin or if chocolate mixture is to hard then leave at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes (depends how warm your kitchen is) to slightly soften for easier to roll into balls.
