Who is Dr. Ergin? Dr. Ahmet Ergin is an endocrinologist with a particular interest and passion for diabetes care. Dr. Ergin earned his medical degree with honors at Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. Then, he completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. He is also a certified diabetes education specialist.

Coconut Sugar Recipe: Beef, Chicken, and Shrimp Gyros

BEEF, CHICKEN, AND SHRIMP GYROS
Pita Bread
400 gr beef, slice thinly
400 gr chicken breast, slice thinly
300 gr shrimps
Olive oil
3 cloves garlic, chopped finely
Lemon juice
1 tsp Dried thyme
1 tsp Dried Oregano
1 tsp Dried Parsley
7 tbsp Coco Sugar®
Salt
Black pepper powder
Romaine lettuce
Tomatoes, slice thinly
Tzatziki (You can also use mayonnaise)
STEP:
1. Chicken: marinade the chicken in the mixture of 1 clove garlic, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 2 tablespoons Coco Sugar®, olive oil, and salt. Set aside.
2. Beef: marinade the beef in the mixture of 1 clove garlic, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, 3 tablespoons Coco Sugar®, olive oil, salt, and black pepper powder. Set aside.
3. Shrimps: marinade the shrimps in the mixture of 1 clove garlic, 1 teaspoon dried parsle, 2 tablespoon Coco Sugar®, olive oil, salt, and lemon juice. Set aside.
4. Prepare the pan, and bring to high heat. Cook the chicken, beef, and shrimps.
5. Serve with pita bread, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and top with tzatziki or mayonnaise.

Greek yogurt is made by straining the yogurt to remove the liquid whey and lactose. The result is a creamier, thicker consistency. Unsweetened Greek yogurt has up to twice the protein and half the carbohydrates of regular yogurt, which is great news for diabetics.
In addition to making you feel like you've had a more substantial snack, the extra protein will help you feel fuller for longer. Great for making people feel full and encouraging fullness.
If you eat Greek yogurt in the morning, it might even help you control your blood sugar throughout the day.
The typical carbohydrate intake for a diabetic is 45-60 grams per meal, with snacks ranging from 15-30 grams. It's simple to incorporate nonfat Greek yogurt into your diet as a meal or as a snack in between meals due to their low carbohydrate content that is about 7 to 12 grams per serving.
Consuming a sufficient quantity of protein at each meal may help people with type 2 diabetes avoid or delay the loss of muscle mass that typically comes with ageing, according to some research. Greek yogurt can help you watch your calorie intake by subbing in for higher-calorie, high-fat foods. Consuming fat-free Greek yogurt can further minimize the risk of cardiovascular disease if it is used to replace foods high in saturated fat.
Greek yogurt can be used in place of sour cream in recipes like dips and baked potato toppings; just add in some chopped fresh or dried herbs. A single-serving container of plain, nonfat Greek yogurt makes a delicious dessert when flavored with a teaspoon of honey and a handful of chopped walnuts. To enhance the flavor, you can add a few drops of your preferred extract, such as vanilla or almond.

Diabetic Friendly Donair Sauce
Donairs are a Nova Scotian twist to the Turkish doner and Gyro. The spices are a little different and the sauce is sweet versus a garlic or tatziki sauce
An easy recipe:
1/2 cup of Stevia
a pinch of garlic powder
1 can of evaporated milk
1/3 cup of vinegar

INGREDIENTS
For the chicken marinade:
1 lb. chicken breast sliced into ½-inch strips
3 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. dried oregano
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
For the Tzatziki Sauce:
1 medium cucumber
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. chopped fresh dill
1 medium clove garlic pressed or minced
¼ teaspoon salt
For the Gyro:
Pita bread
Shredded iceberg lettuce
Sliced tomatoes
Sliced cucumbers
Sliced onion
Feta cheese
INSTRUCTIONS
Marinate the chicken. Place the chicken in a medium bowl and add all of the marinade ingredients. Mix it well, cover with plastic wrap, and marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Make the tzatziki. Grate the cucumber and squeeze the excess liquid out with your hands. Discard the liquid. Place the cucumber in a mixing bowl with the rest of the tzatziki ingredients and mix well.
Cook the chicken. Heat a large, non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken slices and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until cooked through. Slice the chicken into thin strips.
Make the Gyro! Warm the pita bread (in the oven or microwave). Add a bit of shredded lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, and chicken on top. Drizzle with a generous amount of tzatziki and feta cheese, if desired. Fold the gyro* in half and serve.

Ingredients
3 avocados
1 lime
1 tsp salt
1/2 onion
1/2 bunch cilantro
2 tomatoes
1 garlic clove
1 pinch chili pepper
Mash the avocado, mix with salt and lime juice, add chopped onion, minced garlic, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro and a pinch of chili pepper. Mix everything well and enjoy!
