This week, we put meat chili to the test on recipe wars, comparing Giada De Laurentiis' recipe for short rib chili and Emeril Lagasse's recipe for Chuck Wagon Chili. There is nothing so tasty in the Fall in Winter as a big ol' steaming bowl of Chili, and this recipe for Chili From Scratch using ground Turkey uncovers the secrets of making a healthy and absolutely delicious lean meat Chili!

Ingredients
2 lbs. Ground Turkey
1 Sweet Onion, roughly chopped
½ Each Red, Green, Yellow Bell Peppers, ¼” dice
1 Jalapeno Pepper, seeds removed, finely minced (Optional, depending on heat. level desired)
2 Garlic Cloves, finely minced
2 Tbs Tomato Paste Concentrate
1 Bottle Lager Beer
1 28 oz. Can Crushed or Whole Peeled Tomatoes, with sauce
1 Tbs Dried Oregano
2 Tbs Chili Powder
2 Tbs Smoked Paprika
2 Tbs Ground Cumin
1 Tbs Turmeric
1 tsp Berbere (hot, earthy Ethiopan spice mix, use sparingly)
Coarse Kosher Salt
Black Pepper, freshly coarse ground
Grapeseed Oil, or other neutral vegetable oil

Easy Southern Chili Recipe
Easy southern chili is a great starting place for your favorite hearty dinner. Make it your own and adjust the heat level or add your favorite bold flavors.

Ingredients:
- Ground meat of your choice
- Kidney beans
- Garlic
- Onion
- Tomato paste
- Salt
- Pepper
- Chili powder
- Cayenne pepper
- Oregano
- Chicken bouillon

Pat's Famous Chili
Hey, y'all! I'm starting the year off with my classic Chili. Follow along with me.
Ingredients:
6 slices of thick-cut applewood smoked bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
2 medium onions, finely chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
3 tablespoons of chili powder
1 tablespoon of ground cumin
1 tablespoon of chipotle chili powder
2 teaspoons of dried oregano
1 tablespoon of smoked paprika
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 pound of 85 percent lean ground beef
1 pound of ground pork
1 cup of beer
One 15-ounce can of black beans, drained and rinsed
One 15-ounce can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
One 24-ounce can of crushed tomatoes
One 24-ounce can of diced tomatoes, with juice
Sour cream, for garnish
Shredded Cheddar, for garnish
Sliced scallions, for garnish
