Apple Pie Vintage Betty Crocker Recipe
It's a cooking video! Let's make a pie in my vintage kitchen! I recently went to an apple festival and thought it would be fun to buy some apples at the festival and use them to bake an apple pie using a vintage recipe. I used a vintage Betty Crocker recipe. Let me know if you like these vintage cooking videos, and I can make some more. This was a fun first attempt. I've never made an apple pie, or a crust from scratch before, and I am happy with how it came out. Hope you enjoy!! Thanks for watching! If you end up making this pie let me know!
Here's the recipe I used:
Crust:
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup shortening
2-4 tbsp water
(I doubled this because I needed a top and bottom crust)
Mix flour and salt, cut in shortening to flour until pea size. Add water one tbsp at a time until moistened. Form into a ball.
Apple Pie
1/2 c sugar
1/4 c flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp salt
8 cups thin sliced apples (about 8 medium apples)
2 tbsp butter
Preheat oven to 425, bake for 40 minutes.

Resep Apple Pie
Bahan:
Isi pie:
3 buah apel besar
8 sdm brown sugar
1 sdt kayu manis bubuk
1/4 sdt pala bubuk
2 sdm butter
Garam secukupnya
1 sdm air lemon
Kulit pie:
325 gr tepung terigu protein rendah
150 gr margarin atau butter + garam
15 sdm air es
1 sdm air lemon
½ sdt baking powder
Bahan lain:
2 butir telur untuk oles adonan
Minyak untuk menggoreng
Tepung terigu untuk coating adonan
Langkah:
Isi pie:
1. Potong apel berbentuk kotak-kotak kecil
2. Tumis apel
3. Masukkan brown sugar
4. Masukkan kayu manis bubuk
5. Masukkan pala bubuk
6. Tambahkan garam sesuai selera
7. Tambahkan butter
8. Tambahkan air lemon
9. Masak hingga mengental
10. Simpan dalam lemari es
Kulit pie:
1. Masukkan tepung, margarin, dan baking powder. Aduk hingga tercampur rata
2. Masukkan air es sedikit demi sedikit, hingga adonan mengeras
3. Tipiskan adonan
4. Diamkan selama 30 menit di dalam lemari es
5. Adonan siap untuk dipotong dan diisi dengan saus apel yang sudah dibuat tadi
6. Masukkan apple pie siap goreng ke dalam freezer sekitar 10 menit. Tujuannya agar saat digoreng nanti lebih renyah.
7. Keluarkan dari freezer. Sebelum digoreng, coating apple pie dengan tepung terigu dan telur.
8. Goreng apple pie hingga warnanya keemasan.
9. Siap untuk disajikan

Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients:
Pie Filling:
3 pc large apples
8 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
2 tbsp butter
Salt, to taste
1 tbsp lemon juice
Pie Crust:
325 g low-protein flour
150 g margarine or butter + salt
15 tbsp ice water
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp baking powder
Other ingredients:
2 pc eggs for egg wash
Cooking oil for frying
Flour to coat the dough
Steps:
Pie Filling:
1. Dice the apples.
2. Sauté the apples.
3. Add the brown sugar.
4. Add the cinnamon powder.
5. Add the nutmeg powder.
6. Add salt, to taste.
7. Add the butter.
8. Add the lemon juice.
9. Cook until thickens.
10. Keep in the fridge.
Pie Crust:
1. Combine the flour, margarine, and baking powder. Mix well.
2. Add the ice water bit by bit until the dough becomes hard.
3. Thin out the dough.
4. Let it rest for 30 minutes in the fridge.
5. The dough is ready to cut and filled with the apple filling.
6. Cool the raw apple pies in the freezer for 10 minutes.
7. Before frying, coat the frozen apple pies with flour and eggs.
8. Fry the apple pie until golden brown.
9. Ready to serve.

Apple cobbler filling:
2 apples, (peeled, cored and diced medium chunks. I use one Granny Smith, one Gala)
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice + 1 tsp lemon zest
Pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
0.5 oz apple cider or unfiltered no added sugar apple juice
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Combine everything but the vanilla, cider and cornstarch in a medium pan over medium-high heat. Cook until apples are tender but still a bit firm to the bite. Mix the cider or juice with cornstarch in a small bowl and add into the apple mixture. Stir that in for a couple minutes and cook until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove pan from heat and stir in the vanilla. Set aside to cook slightly.
Prepare two mini ramekins with cooking spray and pour in the apple mixture. Top with streusel topping and bake at 350F for around 10 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow the cobblers to cool for 5-10 minutes before topping with ice cream and salted caramel. Enjoy warm!

Streusel Topping:
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/8 cup dark or light brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
2 oz unsalted butter in chunks
Combine ingredients until mixture is combined into uniform big chunks.

STREUSEL TOPPING
8 1/2 ounces all-purpose flour (8 1/2 ounces = ~ a little less than 2 cups)
