Easy Mushroom Turnover
Hello Everyone!
Today we’re heading into the kitchen to cook up a tasty dupe for the Trader Joe’s Mushroom Turnovers. I was obsessed with these delicious little appetizers. They were perfect for parties, or even as dinner when I was feeling lazy. A warm mushroom cream cheese filling surrounded by a golden, flaky, pastry shell. What’s not to love?
I have no idea why, but somehow these magical things were discontinued. With some internet sleuthing and a fair amount of trial and error, I’ve put together, what to me, tastes exactly like those wonderful little turnovers.
I ended up making giant, sliceable turnover rather than smaller ones. It’s delicious! Even my roommate who doesn’t like mushrooms likes these. I’ve put my recipe below. Hope you enjoy!
Recipe:
1 Sheet Frozen Puff Pastry
½ Box Of Sliced Baby Bella Mushroom
½ Sweet Yellow Onion
2 T Butter
1 8oz Brick Of Cream Cheese
Thyme
Rosemary
Salt
Pepper
Add butter to pot and cook on medium high heat until bubbling. Add chopped onions and cook until nearly soft. Add chopped mushrooms and continue to cook. Turn off heat and add in thyme, chopped rosemary, salt, and pepper. In a separate bowl add the cream cheese and add hot mixture from stove on top. Stir until fully incorporated. Lay out puff pastry sheet on baking pan and fill one side with mushroom mixture. Pinch edges closed and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until pastry shell is golden brown.
Happy Cooking!
