2 lb Sugar
2 c -Water; up to 3 cups
1 lb Sour cherries
1/4 ts Vanilla
Sharbat-e Albaloo To serve syrups, add a Tbsp to two to a glass, fill with cold or sparkling water and ice. Use only a porcelain or enamel pan. Boil the sugar and water together for 15 to 20 minutes. Add the sour cherries and boil again gently another 20 to
30 minutes or until the syrup thickens. Strain the liquid into a bowl
through a cheesecloth, squeezing the cherries to extract all of the liquid. Add the vanilla extract. Bottle. To serve, add water & ice. Dried sour cherries may be used instead of fresh ones. They should be soaked in cold water 6 hours or longer. Will kept at room temperature as long as the bottle is sealed. Refrigerate after opening. Easy Cherry Cake Recipe | Sour Cherry Cake with syrup | Torta di Amarene con sciroppo
Ingredients:
2 large eggs
1 cup of granulated sugar (220 grams)
1/2 cup oil vegetable/grape seed/light olive
1 cup (8 oz) of sour cream or Greek yogurt (225 grams)
Pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla (4 grams)
2 tsp baking powder (10 grams)
2 cups all-purpose flour (270 grams)
1 lb of sour cherries (450 grams)
Powdered sugar for dusting cake
For syrup
A handful of cherries from the above pound
Directions:-
1. Put your oven on 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 Celsius)
2. In a medium bowl add eggs and sugar and beat with a handheld mixer about 3 minutes until smooth and lighter in color.
3. Lower the speed and slowly add the oil.
4. Now add your sour cream/yogurt one spoon at a time until batter is creamy and smooth.
5. Add you salt and vanilla and keep mixing.
6. With a sifter add half of your flour, mix in slow speed.
7. Now add the baking powder and remaining flour.
8. By sifting the flour it adds volume and results in a lighter cake.
9. Scrape the sides of your bowl and give it one final mix.
10. I’m an 8-inch spring pan sprayed with cooking spray line the bottom with parchment.
11. Now add half of the batter. Spread 1/3 of cherries on top.
12. Now cover with remaining batter and add on top another 1/3 of cherries.
13. Reserve the last 1/3 to make syrup.
14. Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
Ingredients for syrup:-
1/3 of the cherries
1/4 sugar
1/4 cup water
Zest and juice of a lemon.
Direction:-
In a small saucepan cook for 8 to 10 minutes on low heat.
* Whipped cream optional.
Serve cake with whipped cream and drizzle with cherry syrup.

1 package of frozen pitted cherries (600g)
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt

Cherry syrup was a staple at soda fountains, but often it was wild cherry syrup, not black cherry syrup, and there is a difference. Cherry syrup made with fresh fruit was often used in combination with other syrups to make unique soda flavours, or pour over ice cream. Wild Cherry syrup was made from the bark and had a flavour like cherry but a more pronounced almond-like flavour.
This black cherry syrup recipe was used in Italian Lemonades back in the early 1900s .
Cherry Syrup Recipe
750 gram Black Cherries
1 cup (240g) of Sugar
500 ml Hot Water
1100 grams Sugar
10-12 grams (1 Tbls) of Malic Acid
1. Mash the cherries with 1 cup of sugar
2. Add 500 ml of hot water (90°C)
3. Apply heat until it reaches (72°C)
4. Let sit for 1 to 2 minutes and then remove from heat
5. Allow to macerate for 20 minutes
6. Stain and collect 1 litre of liquid
7. If there isn't enough cherry juice, add hot water through cherry mash
8. Add 1100g of sugar to the cherry juice
9. Stir until dissolved
10. Bottle
