1 c Dry white wine 3 Large shallots; minced 2 Large garlic cloves; minced 2 T Olive oil 2 T Lemon juice 1 1/2 T Dijon mustard 10 Peppercorns; crushed Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Makes about 1-1/2 cups

With Thanksgiving around the corner -- literally -- I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for unique hors d'oeuvre recipes to impress my guests. Well, last week Stella Yu of FoodJunkieChronicles.com and I were invited to check out a new Toronto showroom... a shortbread showroom! Officially, it's called the Coach House Shortbread Showroom and it's the newest endeavor for Carl Stryg, who has been creating unique varieties of shortbread since 1986. 25 years in business impresses me -- but then when I discovered the varieties of shortbread he creates and the way he pairs them with wine and turns shortbread into an upscale hors d'oeuvre that I was blown away!
