Greek Chicken Gyro with Tzatziki sauce
Serves 3-4
Recipe in English:
Ingredients:
-Chicken fillets ½ kg
-Lehsan (Garlic) chopped 1 & ½ tbs
-Paprika powder 1 tbs
-Kali mirch (Black pepper) crushed ½ tsp
-Dhania powder (Coriander powder) ½ tbs
-Lal mirch (Red chili) crushed 1 tsp
-Namak (Salt) ½ tsp or to taste
-Lemon zest ¼ tsp
-Dried thyme 1 tbs
-Chicken powder ½ tsp
-Cayenne powder ½ tbs
-Lemon juice 1-2 tbs
-Olive oil 2-3 tbs
-Olive oil 1-2 tbs
Tzatziki Sauce:
-Dahi (Yogurt) ½ kg
-Dill (Soya) chopped ½ tsp
-Fresh parsley chopped 1 tbs
-Lehsan (Garlic) chopped ½ tbs
-Kali mirch (Black pepper) crushed ½ tsp
-Namak (Salt) ¼ tsp or to taste
-Lemon juice 1 tbs
-Kheera (Cucumber) peeled 1
Greek Salad:
-Shimla mirch (Capsicum) cubes 1 large
-Kheera (Cucumber) peeled & cubes ½ Cup
-Tamatar (Tomato) cubes ½ Cup
-Pyaz (Onion) cubes ½ Cup
-Ice berg 1 Cup
-Brown sugar powdered ½ tbs
-Namak (Salt) 1 pinch or to taste
-Kali mirch (Black pepper) crushed 1 pinch
-Black olives as needed
-Lemon juice 1 tbs
-Feta cheese cubes
-Olive oil 1 tbs
Directions:
-Cut chicken fillets into strips & set aside.
-In bowl,add garlic,paprika powder,black pepper crushed,coriander powder,red chili crushed,salt,lemon zest,dried thyme,chicken powder,cayenne powder,lemon juice and olive oil,mix well.
-Add chicken strips,mix well and marinate for 30 minutes.
-In frying pan,add olive oil,marinated chicken and cook from both sides and squeeze lemon juice,mix well & set aside.
For Tzatziki Sauce:
-In bowl,place strainer,muslin/cheese cloth,add yogurt and bring the four edges of the muslin/cheese cloth together and tie the knot tightly,hang for 1-2 hours.Hung curd is ready!
-In bowl,add hung curd,add dill,fresh parsley,garlic,black pepper crushed,salt and lemon juice.
-In separate bowl,grate cucumber with the help of the grater and squeeze cucumber completely with the help of the hands then add in bowl,mix well & set aside.
For Greek Salad:
-In bowl,add capsicum,cucumber,tomato,onion,ice berg,brown sugar,salt,black pepper crushed,black olives,lemon juice,feta cheese,olive oil and give it a good mix.
-Serve with pita bread.

-Bowl mein lehsan,paprika powder,kali mirch crushed,dhania powder,lal mirch crushed,namak,lemon zest,dried thyme,chicken powder,cayenne powder,lemon juice aur olive oil dal ker ache tarhan mix ker lein.
-Chicken strips dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur 30 minutes kliya marinate ker lein.
-Frying pan mein olive oil aur marinated chicken dal dein aur dono sides sa paka lein,lemon juice dal ker ache tarhan mix karein & side per rakh dein.
For Tzatziki Sauce:
-Bowl mein strainer,muslin/cheese cloth rakh dein,dahi dal ker muslin/cheese cloth ka edges ko ek saath tie ker lein aur 1-2 hours kliya hang ker dein.Hung curd tayyar hai.
-Bowl mein hund curd,soya,fresh parsley,lehsan,kali mirch crushed,namak aur lemon juice dal dein.
-Alag bowl mein kheeray ko grater ki madad sa grate ker lein aur dono haathon ki madad sa ache tarhan squeeze ker lein aur bowl mein dal ker ache tarhan mix karein & side per rakh dein.
For Greek Salad:
-Bowl mein shimla mirch,kheera,tamatar,pyaz,ice berg,brown sugar,namak,kali mirch crushed,black olives,lemon juice,feta cheese aur olive oil dal ker mix ker lein.
-Pita bread ka saath serve karein.
How to Make the BEST Tzatziki Sauce at Home!
Greek Tzatziki Sauce is full of creamy yogurt, shredded cucumbers, fresh dill, lemon juice, and garlic. It’s a quick and easy recipe that tastes as authentic as the one served at your favorite Mediterranean restaurant. This low-carb Greek yogurt sauce pairs well with chicken shish kabobs, turkey meatballs, lamb gyros, or vegan falafel.
INGREDIENTS:
¾ seedless cucumber, skin on or peeled
2 cups Greek yogurt, plain, full-fat, 2%, or non-fat
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 Tbsp. lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. dill, fresh, finely chopped
½ tsp. salt to taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut the cucumber in half lengthwise and then again into quarters so it will fit into the opening of your food processor.
Grate the cucumber in a food processor with a shredding attachment, until you have 1 cup of shredded cucumber.
Let cucumber sit for 5-10 minutes. Wrap shredded cucumber in cheese cloth or a thin dish towel and wring out any excess liquid. You should end up with ½ cup of packed cucumber.
Add cucumber, yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, dill and salt to the bowl of a food processor with an S-shaped blade. Pulse 10-15 times or until ingredients are well incorporated.
Serve Tzatziki sauce with Chicken Shish Kabobs, Greek Turkey Meatballs, or Falafel and enjoy!
RECIPE NOTES:
Use a dairy-free yogurt if vegan or avoiding dairy.
If you do not have a food processor you can always use a boxed grater to grate your cucumber and a blender to blend it up.
Store sauce in the refrigerator between servings. Sauce keeps well for up to a week.

For most Greeks, this favourite sauce/ dip is always a must at every table. You can buy drained yogurt at Greek food shops. Substitute fresh parsley or mint if you like. FULL RECIPE BELOW

RECIPE: GREEK TZATZIKI SAUCE
3 cups whole milk yogurt
(750ml) strained or plain Greek yogurt (2 cups Greek yogurt)
1 medium English cucumber, peeled and grated
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
freshly chopped dill, optional
extra virgin olive oil
Line a colander or sieve with cheesecloth and place it over a bowl. Add the yogurt and allow to drain in fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight. If you don’t drain the yogurt, the tzatziki sauce will be looser. You can also just use a Greek yogurt and just skip the draining part. You need 2 cups of drained yogurt.
In a medium bowl, take grated cucumber and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
In a medium bowl, combine the drained yogourt with garlic and squeezed cucumber. Season to taste and add the chopped dill, if desired. Plate with a drizzle of olive oil and Fleur de sel or Maldon sea salt.
Makes about 1 ½ cups (375 ml)
