A visit to the Original Billy Goat Tavern!
My fun and tasty visit to the original Billy goat Tavern. Billy Goat Tavern was the inspiration for the famous “cheezborger cheezborger cheezborger” sketch on Saturday Night Live, and as legend had it, the source of the decades long curse on the Chicago Cubs!

Chicago's Most Legendary Cheeseburger | Legendary Eats | Insider Food
Billy Goat Tavern, established in 1934, is a burger institution in Chicago, known for its double cheeseburger made with thin, all-natural beef patties served on a kaiser-roll bun. The original restaurant — which was a tavern across from the Chicago Stadium — was born when a goat fell off a passing truck and wandered into Greek immigrant William Sianis' tavern. Sianis adopted the goat, grew a goatee, and was nicknamed Billy Goat. This quirky tavern, known for its Cheezborger, is no stranger to famous faces. Its walls are adorned with clips from the Chicago media and pictures from visiting politicians, and it was even parodied on Saturday Night Live in 1978.
Insider visited Billy Goat Tavern in February 2020. You can still order Cheezborgers and more for pick-up, or you can order online. For more information, visit: billygoattavern.com/

Chicago's Billy Goat Tavern and Grill - 4K #billygoattavern
When you visit Chicago people tell you about a lot of things you just gotta do! One of the things we were told is - you gotta have a Billy Goat Burger. So of course we gave it a shot. I am not going to tell you it was the best burger I have ever eaten (not by a long shot!) but the history of this quirky place is hard not to appreciate. The original Billy Goat was established in 1934 by Billy Sanis. There are now several locations but the oldest is on Lower Michigan Avenue and the history documented on the walls is worth a visit. Sanis and his pet billy goat were involved in cursing the Chicago Cubs baseball team and the restaurant inspired the Olympia Cafe sketch on Saturday Night Live. (John Belushi and Bill Murry were Billy Goat regulars in their Chicago days). The Billy Goat Tavern and Grill on Michigan Ave is worth a visit if you make it to Chicago - You gotta go!
