Macadamia Coconut Breakfast Sauce - great for chaffles, dessert or fat bombs
I had originally filmed this video several months ago using a commercial brand of nut butter. When I realized that this recipe contained $15 worth of nut butter packets, I felt I couldn't release it until I could make it cheaper. A couple weeks ago, I came up with a homemade nut butter that allowed me to make this recipe at an acceptable price.
Because this video is cobbled together with some new and old footage, and because I edited out references to the brand of nut butter, there are a couple of awkward cuts. Also, I had a different camera on the original video, so you'll notice a difference in the lighting.
Adjustable measuring cup (great for measuring nut butters):

Pancakes with Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Sauce | 4K ASMR Recipe
Years ago, my cousin Scott took me to a restaurant called, “Boots & Kimo’s Homestyle Kitchen” located in Kailua, Hawaii. There was a long line out the door and we waited over an hour to get seated. Scott had me order the “Kimo’s Onolicious Pancakes with their Famous Macadamia Nut Sauce,” & once seated, out came the most delicious pancakes with a creamy white sauce & toasted macadamia nuts. I also had something similar at the Muu Muu Diner in Osaka Japan and since then, I’ve wanted to try to replicate the recipe. I’m sure it’s not the exact one, but the pancakes are so light and fluffy & the sauce is easy to make & soooooo delicious!! You could serve this for breakfast or dessert!
Serving Size: 8 medium pancakes
0:00 Macadamia Nut Sauce
2:11 Pancakes
4:21 Plating
=== Macadamia Nut Sauce Ingredients ====
- 1/8 Cup (10 Whole) Macadamia nuts
- 1 Cup (8 fl oz/237 ml) Melted Vanilla or Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (Note: I scooped about 2 cups of ice cream into a measuring cup, but once melted, it’s really about 1 cup of ice cream.)
- ½ Cup (4 fl oz/118.5 ml) Heavy Whipping cream
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 tsp Lemon juice
=== Macadamia Nut Sauce Directions ====
1. Place the nuts into a food processer and pulse or blend until finely chopped. You can also place them in a plastic bag and pound it with a rolling pin or chop up finely with a knife.
2. Pan fry the finely crushed nuts on low/med heat until golden. Set aside until later.
3. Place Vanilla Ice Cream in a bowl and mix until fully melted.
4. Add the ½ Cup (4 fl oz/118.5 ml) Heavy Whipping Cream & whip on high for about 2-3 minutes until thickened.
5. Add 1 tsp Vanilla Extract & 2 tsp Lemon juice & whip for about 30 seconds until fully combined. Place in fridge until you’re ready to serve.
=== Pancake Ingredients ====
- 2 Cups (8.5 oz/240g) All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- ½ tsp Salt
- 2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
- 2 Cups (16 fl oz/473.18ml) Buttermilk
- 2 large Eggs slightly beaten
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
=== Pancake Directions ====
1. Whisk the dry ingredients (Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Salt & Sugar) together in a large bowl.
2. Whisk in the Buttermilk, Eggs & Vanilla extract until combined. (Do not over mix as some small lumps are okay.)
3. Let pancake batter rest for 10 minutes.
4. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
5. Spray with non-stick cooking spray or brush with butter or oil.
6. Ladle 1/3 - 1/2 cup batter onto the griddle for each pancake & cook for approximately 2-4 minutes.
7. Flip the pancakes over when small bubbles appear on the surface and continue cooking on the opposite side until golden brown.
8. Remove the Macadamia Nut Sauce from the fridge.
9. Pour sauce over warm pancakes. (You do not need to heat up the sauce.) Sprinkle with macadamia nuts & serve!
ENJOY!!
