How To make Flowerpot Bread
3 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1 cup oatmeal
2 teaspoons salt
2 packages active dry yeast
1/4 cup sorghum molasses
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 1/2 cups very warm water
3 1/2 cups whole wheat flour -- to 4
Mix first four ingredients. Mix molasses, oil and water. Combine two mixtures and set aside 15 to 20 minutes. Add remaining flour and knead until smooth. Allow dough to rise in warm, draft free place for 30 minutes. Punch down dough, divide and place in oiled clay flowerpots filling 2/3 full. Let rise in warm draft free place 45 minutes. Depending on the size of your flowerpot, bake about 15 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees until light brown. Enjoy!

I made this oven for less than £30. I'm sure with a little improvisation using pots you have lying around you could do it for even less. Any questions you have just comment below. Woodfired Flowerpot Focaccia
This week I have another lovely cook with Sue Stoneman, flowerpot focaccia in the Bushman Santorini woodfired oven.
Plant Pot Focaccia bread
Ingredients:
500g strong white bread flour
1.5tsp salt
1 sachet dried yeast (7g)
Sprigs fresh Rosemary, leaves taken off the stalks & finely chopped (about 2 tablespoons) save some for the topping
3 tablespoons olive oil
300ml warm water approx
6 Terracotta plant pots
For drizzling
Olive Oil
Chopped fresh Rosemary
Coarse sea salt
What to do:
Put the bread flour, salt, yeast, 1-1.5 tbsp chopped Rosemary and mix well. Add in the olive oil, followed by the warm water and mix to a dough. Knead for ten minutes until smooth or if using a mixer, using the dough hook knead for about 8 minutes. Put into a clean bowl. Cover with a tea towel & leave to prove in a warm place for about an hour or until dough has doubled in size.
If using terracotta plant pots, grease liberally with butter or olive oil. Carefully tip out the risen dough and divide it into six portions. You don’t knock this dough back as this is what makes the lovely air bubbles in the bread. Carefully place into the plant pots. Cover again with a towel and leave to prove for about half an hour or until the bread is well risen. Make indents with your finger, then drizzle over olive oil, sprinkle with the remaining chopped Rosemary and a liberal dusting of sea salt.
Bake in the Pizza Oven or BBQ temperature around 180/200C for about 20-30 minutes or until golden on top and cooked on the underneath – tap to check it sounds hollow. Serve warm.
You could use the same recipe and make a single focaccia in a baking tin, terracotta dish or put straight onto a baking sheet.

Spring is finally here in the UK, which means it's time for Ben to get gardening! Or in this case to plant a few seeds inside of his flower pot breads and rest them into his edible herb garden allotment!
