How to Cook Costa Rican Gallo Pinto | Costa Rica's Typical and Most Popular Breakfast (Updated)
After some years I think it is time to show an updated video on how I make Costa Rican Gallo Pinto, seeing as my methods have changed a bit and you guys seemed to love the first recipe so much that I wanted to share the adjustments with you!
I decided to test out two different ways of making it as well, based on genuine curiosity (let me know which way you prefer!)
I also expand a bit more on the complete typical breakfast here in Costa Rica, with a few options of what to pair it with. Enjoy!

1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp salt

Costa Rican Gallo Pinto | Ready in 15 minutes
If you have been to Costa Rica before, you probably tried a Gallo Pinto. Gallo Pinto means spotted rooster in Spanish and refers to the speckled appearance of the cooked rice and beans. This easy recipe is served as breakfast in Central America, although most of us would probably prefer to eat this dish for lunch or dinner. You can serve this Gallo Pinto by itself, or add a fried egg, some slices of avocado and fried plantain. You can find the Lizano sauce on Amazon or you can use this recipe as an excuse to book your holidays to Costa Rica and buy it in a local store.
