How To make Guisado Rico
3 lb Pork roast,lean end cut
1 cn Tomatoes,cut into quarters
-(16 oz) 2 Large onions,chopped
4 Garlic cloves,chopped fine
12 Green chiles,cut into
-thin 2" strips 2 Jalapeno peppers,chopped
-fine (optional) 1/2 ts Dried oregano
1 Large bay leaf
1/2 ts Dried basil leaves
1/2 cn Beer
2 cn Chicken broth (14 oz ea)
1 c Chopped scallions
1/2 c Fresh cilantro
Salt to taste 1. Puncture the roast with a sharp knife and insert two split garlic
cloves. 2. Warm the oven at 325'F. Roast the pork in the oven until it's done. 3. Allow the meat to cool. Save the meat juice. Discard the excess fat and cut the meat into bite-size cubes. 4. Place the meat in a cooking pot. Add the meat juice. 5. Add the oregano, garlic, bay leaf, onions and salt. Add water if the meat juice is not enough. 6. Cover the pot and simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes. 7. Add the chiles, tomatoes, basil and chicken broth. Simmer for about 15 minutes. 8. Add the beer. If more liquid is needed, add another can of beer. Simmer for 15 minutes. 9. Serve in soup bowls and garnish with chopped cilantro and scallions. Serve with refried beans and warm flour tortillas. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Yields 4
1 whole chicken broken down to 10 pieces
2 breast cut in too two pieces, 2 wings, 2 legs, 2 thighs
2 tablespoons of oil
2 teaspoons of granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon of ground coriander
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
1 tablespoon of ground garlic or garlic powder
1 tablespoon of smoked paprika or regular paprika
2 tablespoon of Kosher Salt
juice of 1 lime
1 red onion sliced
5 cloves of garlic thin sliced
1 red pepper sliced no seeds
1/4 bunch of culantro
1/4 bunch of cilantro
3 tablespoons of Sofrito
8 oz can of tomato sauce
Sofrito
1 medium yellow onion
3 cloves of garlic
1 long green pepper diced
1 red pepper diced
2 table spoons evoo
1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon of paprika
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
1/4 bunch of cilantro
1/4 bunch of culantro
cook for 25 minutes and puree and reserve you can even freeze your sofrito
Serve your Pollo Guisado with White Rice or mashed potatoes
i served mine with avocado, maduros and white rice

Whatever you call it, it's an amazing dish and a super traditional one as well. I grew up eating pollo guisado practically once a week. Ingredients:
2.5 lbs of chicken-- cleaned
½ red onion finely chopped
½ red bell pepper chopped
½ cubanelle pepper
6-8 Mashed garlic cloves
1.5-2 tsp adobo
½ tsp ground oregano
¼ tsp black pepper
½ tbs sazon or paprika
2 tbs Soy sauce
¼ sopita/ bouillon cube
½ lime
2-3 tbs olives
1 ½ tsp tomato paste
1 ½ cups of water
Canola oil
Celery leaves ** optional
Pickled Onions:
1 small red onion
½ red bell pepper
1 tsp vinegar -- red or white doesn't matter

Puerto Rican Bistec/Biftec en Salsa | Bistec Guisado | Stewed Cubed Steak
Growing up, bistec en salsa was one of my favorite meals! Pair it with some white rice or even some mashed potatoes!
Ingredients Used:
* 1 1/4lb Cubed steak (flank works too)
* Olive oil to taste
* 3/4 tsp Adobo (or salt)
* 1 garlic clove, mashed
* Black pepper to taste
* Dried oregano to taste
* 1/2 a large, white onion
* Bell peppers
* 1 packet Goya Sazón (or annatto powder)
* 1.5 tbsp sofrito
* 3 tbsp tomato sauce
* 1 tsp white vinegar
* Handful of carrots
* Enough water to cover everything, about 3/4 of the way
????NOTE: Cook over medium high heat, initially. Once you cover your pot, let it braise on low/medium heat for the remainder of the time. If the liquid evaporates, add water!

Welcome Back to my Channel! This is my next video in a series of authentic Puerto Rican dishes that I will be posting. In this video we make Pollo guisado con Arroz blanco. (Chicken stew with White rice). This is one of the most popular Puerto Rican dishes. An easy week night meal that you can make in under 45 minutes. Contrary to popular belief this dish is on the healthy side since we only use canola oil and fresh veggies. Please leave any suggestions of what you would like to see prepared for future videos. The ingredients for the chicken stew:
3 chicken breasts, cut in half
3 potatoes diced
Olives
3 carrots
1 8oz can tomato sauce
5 tablespoons sofrito
Garlic powder
Cumin
Oregano
Adobo Goya
Canola oil
1 package Sazon Knorr
For the rice:
2 cups long grain rice
2 1/4 cup water
salt to taste
1-2 tablespoons canola oil
