How To make Lemony Chicken
12 To 16 chicken thighs, skin
-removed 1 c Lemon juice
1 c Flour
1/2 ts Salt
Pepper to taste 1/4 ts Dried thyme
2 tb Corn oil
2 tb Butter
1/2 c Chicken stock
2 tb Lemon juice
1 tb Grated lemon zest
1/4 ts Dried thyme
Marinated chicken in 1 C. lemon juice in the refrigerator for about 12 hours, turning several times. Remove from fridge about 30 minutes before preparing. Coat the chicken in a mixture of the flour, salt, pepper, and thyme. In a large skilet, heat the oil and butter over medium heat until hot, but not smoking. Saute chicken 5-10 minutes per side, until golden brown. Place chicken in a low-sided baking dish. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the stock with 2 Tbl lemon juice and pour around chicken in dish. Sprinkle the chicken with lemon zest and thyme. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Refrigerate until cold. Source: _Picnic! Honey Lemon Chicken Meal Prep
There’s no reason to eat plain chicken & rice when you can make this incredibly easy and delicious recipe. One of my favourite meal preps!
Macros per serving (4 servings total)
415 calories - 40g protein | 44g carbs | 8g fat
Ingredients (for 4 servings)
For the Chicken
- 700g Cubed Raw Chicken Breast
- 20ml Light & Dark Soy Sauce (Low Sodium)
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Lemon Juiced
- 2 tsp Olive Oil for cooking
- 10-15g Honey
For the Rice
- 480g Cooked Basmati Rice (120g per serve)
- 1 Red Onion finely sliced
- 1 Red Bell Pepper chopped
- 15ml Dark Soy Sauce
- 10g Honey
- 1/2 Lemon Juice
- Garnish Green Onion
Distribute into 4 equal servings & ENJOY!

Important Notes
- When adding the honey to the chicken make sure the heat is turned off
- You can store the meal preps for up to 5 days and freeze for months. Reheat in a microwave or on a pan
- You can marinate the chicken for 30 mins or overnight for best flavour

Here is the lemon chicken recipe I used in my restaurant for the last 6 years. This is NOT BETTER THAN but EXACTLY the same as Chinese Take Out. If you could give me a LIKE and a SUBSCRIBE, it would mean the world. Thank you.
[RECIPE]
Ingredients:
[Chicken Marinade]
2pc Chicken thigh with skin or chicken breast
1 tsp Custard powder
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Chicken powder
1 tbs Corn starch
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Sugar
1/2 tsp White pepper
Cooking wine
Sesame oil
[Batter]
1/2 cup corn starch
1 cup self raising
1 1/2 cup soda water
1/2 tsp Chicken Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Sugar
White pepper
[Lemon Sauce]
2 slices Lemon
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup White vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp Custard powder
Concentrated lemon sauce or substitute with honey
1/2 tbs Potato starch
Method:
1. Butterfly chicken flat into 1.5 cm thickness
2. Marinade with everything listed and add a splash of sesame oil and cooking wine. (Cover and leave in fridge overnight to marinade)
3. Combine all ingredients in [Batter] to make batter.
4. Fry chicken at 180 for 3-7mins or till golden brown. Cut into 2cm thick pieces. tip* Chop hard and fast to avoid breaking and crumbling crust.
5. Combine all ingredients less the potato starch in [Lemon Sauce] on a wok or pan and bring to a light simmer.
6. Once simmering mix potato starch with a little bit of water to make a slurry. Slowly pour into sauce while stirring to thicken.
7. Pour over crispy chicken and that's how you make it NOT BETTER BUT EXACTLY THE SAME as Chinese Take out.

Chinese lemon chicken recipe
This is my Chinese Lemon Chicken recipe (柠檬鸡). It is a Cantonese classic and its refreshing, lemony taste makes it a popular restaurant and takeaway dish. But it is super easy to make at home.
INGREDIENTS
01. 2 chicken breasts
02. light soy sauce (2 tbsp)
03. Shaoxing rice wine (2 tbsp)
04. 1 spring onion
05. gingeShaoxingr (1 tsp)
06. 1 garlic clove
07. 1 egg
08. corn flour (100g)
09. cooking oil (2 cups)
LEMON SAUCE
10. ½ lemon juice
11. sugar/honey (2tsp)
12. salt (½- 1 tsp)
13. chicken stock/water (3-4 tbsp)
14. corn flour (1tsp)
15. a drizzle of sesame oil
(Serves 4 to 6)
The chicken is marinated, battered, double-fried, and then glazed with a tangy lemony sauce. Serve it with boiled rice and steamed vegetables and it's an easy complete meal that the whole family will enjoy.
Just a note of caution: the takeout variety of this dish tends to have an exaggerated yellowish colour and gluey sauce. This is because colouring and even custard powder is often used (as well as msg and artificial chicken flavouring). The best thing about making Lemon chicken at home is that you can avoid such ingredients.
