Halloween cake decorating: How to make a kitty litter cake recipe
It's a trick...it's a treat...it's a Kitty Litter Cake! It's perfect for a gross out Halloween party. Kids and adults will be delighted and repelled! Here's how to make your own kitty litter cake, courtesy of comedian Lizz Winstead and kitsch king Bruce Littlefield, author of Garage Sale America.
1. Invert 13 x 9 chocolate cake into a new (unused) litter box. The cake and litter box create the base for the kitty litter cake.
2. Place one 12-ounce package of vanilla creme cookies in a large resealable plastic bag and pound cookies with a mallet or by hand until the cookies are broken into small pieces.
3. Sprinkle the crumbled cookies on top of the chocolate cake.
4. Generously sprinkle cookie crumbs with green colored sugar or green sprinkles. The green color creates the look of chlorophyll in real kitty litter.
5. Place 6-8 unwrapped Tootsie Rolls® in a microwave safe dish and microwave until melted.
6. Scrape melted Tootsie Rolls® out of the bowl with a small spoon and form the umm, you know....
7. Bury the melted Tootsie Rolls® and place more on the surface of the cookie crumb mixture to achieve maximum gross-out.
8. To serve, place new (unused) kitty litter pooper scooper in the kitty litter cake. To serve on a table, place the kitty litter cake on top of newspaper adorned with a few sprinkles of kitty litter. Or, do as Lizz Winstead suggests and walk around your Halloween party offering guests a scoop of your kitty litter cake.

Cat Litter Cake | Halloween Party Dessert | Req. by Robert Evans
More Halloween shenanigans are on the way thanks to Robert Evans. We’ve got a cake perfect for any Halloween party. Comprised of yellow and chocolate cake, vanilla pudding, blonde Oreo cookies and strategically placed Tootsie Rolls, this dessert couldn’t be easier to assemble. Refrigerating the cake for a few hours will help to soften the cookie crumbles and allow the pudding to hold the cake base together. Consider this for your next Halloween engagement.
Cat Litter Cake
1 yellow box cake mix, baked according to package directions
1 chocolate box cake mix, baked according to package directions
2, 3oz packages of vanilla instant pudding, mixed according to package directions and refrigerated
1 family sized package of blonde Oreos, or any vanilla cream-filled sandwich cookie
Tootsie Rolls in various sizes
6-7 drops green food coloring
After the cakes have cooled, crumble them and toss with the vanilla pudding, mixing the chocolate and vanilla cakes together. In a brand new, clean and lined litterbox, or a food safe pan resembling a litterbox, fill half way with the cake mixture. Using a rolling pin and plastic bag, or food processor, crumble the cookies into litter-sized bits. Scoop out a cup and toss in a bag with green food coloring to resemble the odorizer pieces in cat litter. Set the colored crumbs aside.
Using the uncolored crumbs, top the cake mixture with half the crumbs. Add another layer of the cake mixture. Add the green colored cookie crumbs to the uncolored cookie crumbs. Layer all of it on top of the cake in the litterbox. Warm unwrapped Tootsie Rolls in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. Stretch and bend them into appropriate shapes in the cookie crumbs. Serve with a new, clean litter scoop. Refrigerate leftovers.
