Carbonara | Basics with Babish
Carbonara has been the subject of some severe bastardization here in the states, where we regularly eschew Italian tradition in favor of garlic, bacon, and green peas for some reason. Today we're doing both the old-school and illegitimate versions of the hotly-contested dish, both of which deserve their place in your grandmother's handwritten recipe cards.

COOKING CHALLENGE: DO PASTA AND S'MORES BELONG ON PIZZA?!
Recipes listed below!
In this video, we attempted to make a penne alla vodka style pizza alongside a cinnamon bun s'mores pizza... but it didn't turn out how we wanted it to.
Isabelle and I wanted to compete head to head to see who would win when making pizza. We were inspired by typical flavors we've seen before and then added some twists to them.. which wasn't necessarily a good idea. I know the lighting and angles aren't the best, it's all a learning process.
Let me know in the comments section if you'd like to see more videos like this one!
Elbow alla vodka pasta pizza:
- Elbow pasta
- olive oil
- butter
- one onion
- crushed tomatoes
- heavy cream
- red pepper flakes
- salt
- oregano
- garlic powder
- fresh pizza dough
Don't forget to oil your dough! Cook it a little first, then finish it with the pasta on top with your oven at 400 degrees!
Cinnamon bun s'mores pizza:
- Can of cinnamon buns w/ icing
- marshmallow fluff
- marshmallows
- chocolate chips
- heavy cream
Cook the cinnamon buns first after your roll them into one large ball of dough! After it's semi cooked following the instructions on the can, finish it off in the oven with the rest of the toppings!
