Recipe here: Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Stained Glass Cookies. Sugar Cookies are a sweet and tender cookie with wonderfully crisp edges. They are an American favorite and are especially popular during the Christmas season. You can turn Sugar Cookies into Stained Glass Cookies simply by cutting out the centers of the cookies and filling them with colorful crushed hard candy. The transformation takes place in the oven, when the candy melts making it look like colored glass. Pretty to look at and delicious to eat.

Stained Glass Sugar Cookies Recipe
Recipe :
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Chilling Time : 1 hour
Baking Time : 15 mins
Makes : 20 cookies
Ingredients:
All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 3/4 cup / 210 grams
Sugar - 1/2 cup / 100 grams (powdered)
Unsalted Butter - 150 grams (soft)
Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp
Salt - a pinch
Coloured Hard Candies as needed
(My 1 cup measures 240 ml)
Method:
Take butter, sugar in a bowl and cream till fluffy.
Add in vanilla, salt and mix well.
Add in flour and mix well to form a dough. Wrap this in cling wrap and chill in fridge for 1 hour.
Now roll this dough between two sheets of parchment paper or cling wrap.
Use cookie cutter to cut out round shape. Now use a small cookie cutter to cut out middle round.
Preheat oven to 180 degree C / 350 degree F.
Now arrange it in a baking pan lined with parchment and bake for 7 to 8 mins till it is half cooked.
Now remove the cookies from oven, sprinkle the candies into the small cut out holes.
Pop it back in oven and bake for 5 more mins.
The cookies should get light golden around the edges.
Now remove from oven and let it cool for 10 mins.
Store in a air tight container.
