The Best Apple Pie With Claire Saffitz | Dessert Person
I love an elaborate dessert on occasion, but after lots of trial and error, I’ve learned over time that when it comes to apple pie, simplest is always preferable. For Thanksgiving, what I want underneath a scoop of vanilla ice cream is a slice of buttery, cinnamony pie that tastes of apples and features a variety of textures. This pie, with an oat crumble topping rather than a top crust of lattice, checks all of those boxes.

Apple Pie recipe - crispy top gooey filling, fall in a pie
[captions ON for commentary]
My grandma loved apple pie. I was never a huge fan until I had it fresh where the crust is still crispy and the filling is gooey and warm. I wish I could have made this pie for my grandma but I only got into cooking/baking long after she passed. Hopefully, you all can make this pie for your loved ones this coming Thanksgiving! It’s a recipe I keep going back to! :D
I used Pies ’n’ Thighs apple pie recipe found here:

Apple Pie Recipe Demonstration - Joyofbaking.com
Recipe here: Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make an Apple Pie. This Apple Pie has two layers of buttery crisp pastry enclosing slices of tangy sweet apples covered with cinnamon sugar. It is an American classic. While perfect on its own, you may want to try it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a dollop of softly whipped cream, or with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese.
