How To make West Haven Chocolate Cake
8 oz Dates; Pitted, Chopped
1 t Baking Soda
1 c ;Boiling Water
1 3/4 c Flour; Unbleached, Sifted
2 T Cocoa; Baking
1/2 t Salt
1 c Shortening; Vegetable
1 c Sugar
2 ea Eggs; Large
6 oz Semisweet Chocolate Chips
1/2 c Walnuts; Chopped
Combine dates, baking soda, and boiling water in a small bowl. Cool to room terperature. Sift together the flour, cocoa, and salt; set aside. Cream the shortening and sugar together in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, using an electric mixer at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in date mixture. Then stir in dry ingredients. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree F. oven for 35 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan on rack. Cut into squares and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

I will be making a delicious vegan chocolate ginger nut cake – a very moist, delicious cake with gingernut running through the batter. Layered with gingernut ganache icing. This recipe is entirely vegan, but please do feel free to adapt it to suit your own dietary requirements if needed.

The ingredients you will need for the cake:
-300 ml almond milk
-2 tbsp cider vinegar
-100 gms vegan butter
-50 gms gingernut butter
-2 tsp instant coffee
-250 gms self raising flour
-50 gms cocoa powder
-2 tsp baking powder
-1 tsp bicarb of soda
-250 gms caster sugar
For the ganache:
-400 gms tin of full fat coconut milk
-200 gms vegan dark chocolate
-50 gms gingernut butter
For the icing:
-270 ml vegan cream
-50 gms icing sugar

Ingredients for making a chocolate cake:
Cake:
butter and cocoa powder for coating and dusting the cake pan
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 cups granulated sugar
1½ cups cocoa powder
1½ teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
4 large eggs
1½ cups buttermilk
1½ cups warm water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Frosting:
1½ cups butter softened
8 oz cream cheese softened
1½ cups cocoa powder
7-8 cups icing sugar

(MARY BERRY'S) UNMISSABLE MOIST CHOCOLATE CAKE!!
Hi everyone,
Today I'm following one of our national treasures recipes.
Mary Berry's chocolate cake is always a favorite in with us, so I wanted to share my take on it and how this recipe has inspired me after so many times making it & eating it!!

Ingredients:
Wash your hands!
x3 Large eggs (or x4 medium)
175g Self-raising flour (sifted)
175g caster sugar
175g softned salted or unsalted butter
1 1/2 level tsp baking powder
40g cocoa powder (sifted)
Tsp of Vanilla essence
4tbsp of black cherry conserve or a jam of choice
Serves x12
Prep 30mins
Cooking 20-25 mins
Preheated Oven 180 degrees
Put everything into a bowl and mix till velvety shiny then transfer in your baking cake tin. Bake for 20-25 mins, take out the oven check with a knife that your sponge is ready.
The repeat all again for your 2nd sponge.
Wait for both sponges to cool - then spread your jam on one sponge then spread your buttercream over the top and sandwich the two sponges together. You can then decorate your cake however you wish!

350g icing-sugar
175g of butter room temperature
2-3 tbsp milk
0,5 tsp vanilla essence
