How To make Amish Sugar Cookies
Ingredients

cup
sugar

cup
confectioner's sugar
1
cup
butter, or margarine, softened
1
cup
oil
2
each
eggs
1
teaspoon
baking soda
1/2
teaspoon
salt
1
teaspoon
cream of tartar
1
teaspoon
vanilla
4 1/2
cup
flour
1
colored sugar (optional)
Directions:
Combine the sugars, butter oil and eggs, beat well. Add the remaining ingredients, mix well. Refrigerate dough until well chilled (2 hours).
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll dough into balls and dip into granulated sugar. Place on a cookie sheet and flatten with the bottom of a glass which has been dipped into the sugar (it keeps the dough from sticking). Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned around the edges.

Drop Sugar Cookies
(Amish Church Cookies)
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
1 cup sweet milk (whole milk)
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups all-purpose flour
3 eggs, well beaten
Sugar for sprinkling
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Mix all the ingredients except the sugar for sprinkling until well combined. Drop on a cookie sheet and flatten a little. Sprinkle sugar on top. Bake for about 9 minutes or until cookies are lightly brown. Enjoy!
