Ham and bean soup Slow cooker meals to make dinner easy!
Ham and bean slow cooker soup is a super simple recipe that can be easily modified to fit your tastes! I show you how to use dry beans from the pantry - whether it’s navy beans, pinto beans, northern beans, white beans, brown beans (all the beans!) and show you how to make beans with ham in the slow cooker or crockpot.
This simple dinner can be made with store-bought ham pieces, ham hocks or that leftover ham or ham bone from the holidays. Throwing in the bone makes the best beans & ham in the crockpot but I get that that’s not always an option so I’m all about showing you how to cook the best beans and ham with what you have on hand.

CROCKPOT HAM & BEAN SOUP -- MAKE IT EASY MONDAY
This hearty soup made with ham hocks or a ham bone is easy and flavorful and always hits the spot with just a few ingredients! And the crockpot does all the work!
HAM & BEAN SOUP
1-2 smoked ham hocks and some diced ham chunks (if you don't like smoke as much, only use one ham hock.)
1 large diced potato
1 diced large carrot
1 medium onion diced
1 bag of dry great northern beans
Water
1 tbs Better Than Bouillon Ham Base
2 tsp thyme
1 tbs parsley
1 tbs Worcestershire Sauce
(celery, liquid smoke, mashed potatoes etc. optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Soak the beans over night in a large flat dish with water, covering all beans plus 1-2 inches of water on top. The beans will soak up that liquid to become re-hydrated.
Rinse beans and place in the crockpot.
Add water to fill to 3/4 full.
Add ham hocks and onion. Turn on high for one hour, then down to low for 4-5 hrs.
When ham hocks are tender, remove, debone and shred/dice and add back to the soup.
Add remaining ingredients and let go on slow another 1-2 hrs.
Serve up with a good crusty bread and butter!

Slow Cooker Lima Beans And Ham Hocks Recipe - How To Cook Lima Beans In A Crock Pot
I made these creamy Lima Beans And Ham Hocks using my Slow Cooker.
The first and most important step is to cook the Ham Hocks in the Crock Pot on high for at least 2 hours. This ensures that your cooking liquid is adequately seasoned. After two hours in the Crock Pot, remove the Ham Hocks and remove the meat from the bone after they have had a chance to cool down. After removing the Ham Hocks add the Lima Beans, Onions, Celery, Ham Hocks and Seasoning and cook until Lima Beans are cooked to your desired softness.
These Lima Beans are so good that I can make a meal out of them. If you don't have a Crock Pot, or Slow Cooker of any kind, these Lima Beans And Ham Hocks can be made on your stove in a large pot.
If you are vegetarian or vegan, obviously don't add the Ham Hocks, but use a vegetable broth in place of water. I think that adding Portobello mushrooms would be a nice addition also.
Lima Beans and Ham Hocks Ingredients:
16 Oz, Dried Large Lima Beans
4 Ham Hocks
1 Cup Chopped Onions
1 Cup Thinly Sliced Onions
Mr Pete's Cajun Seasoning (or whatever seasoning you like) to taste.
3 Quarts Water (Or more if needed)
