1/2
pound
smoked ham, chopped

2
teaspoon
chili powder
2
teaspoon
brown sugar
1/2
teaspoon
dry mustard
1/4
teaspoon
oregano
Directions:
Cover beans with water and let soak overnight. Drain beans, discarding soaking water. In crockpot, cover beans with fresh water and add remaining ingredients. Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours, until beans are tender. Taste beans, add salt if necessary (don't add salt at the beginning of cooking time - it will make the beans tough!).

Melissa Partyka, UC Davis: Microbial Source Tracking (MST) Session
Melissa Partyka, UC Davis, presented MST: Panacea or Pandora’s Box at the Microbial Source Tracking (MST) Session of the WACD, Weed and Pest, and Society for Range Management Convention. The event was held November 5, 2015 in Laramie, WY.
Partyka presented on factors that are important to consider when sampling for MST based on research and projects Ms. Partyka and UC Davis have been involved with. Some of those factors included where, how, and what you test for matters and why.
Over the years Microbial Source Tracking (MST) has been a topic that WACD and the Conservation Districts have been interested and involved with on various levels. With the initiation of several MST projects within the past couple of years by several of the Conservation Districts, the need for more education and information on the science has been brought to the forefront. An MST session was held on the afternoon of November 5, 2015 during the joint convention in Laramie with three presentations.
The sessions were recorded by University of Wyoming Television for Wyoming Association of Conservation Districts
