Southern fried whiting is made by coating seasoned, boneless filets of whiting fish with a combination of fine-ground cornmeal and flour. Learn how to make fried fish in this tutorial.

Frying fish is a delicious way to quickly cook crunchy fish filets. Season the fish and the breading with lemon pepper and garlic powder for the best flavor. This is also a good way to make fried tilapia. For crispy fried whiting heat vegetable or peanut oil heated in a cast iron skillet and the fish is quickly fried to golden brown perfection. Make fried catfish the same way.
I make gluten free fried fish by using masa harina to coat the fish fillets. Masa harina is a type of fine corn flour that is used to make tortillas. Do not add all purpose flour to keep this gluten free.
Whiting is a type of delicately flavored whitefish in the Cod family. By frozen, bonus Whiting filets in the freezer section of your grocery store.
Fry Whiting fish in canola oil or any neutral flavored frying oil.
