katharine hepburn's brownies | a cheesemonger's daughter
The world doesn’t need another brownie recipe. And I know that whatever I come up with wouldn’t come close to many that already exist. So I belief when it comes to brownies is to find one you like, learn it, love it, and make it your own. This is my favorite go to because it’s simple, no fuss, on the fudgier side of things, and can be customized with whatever you want to add to it: nuts, chocolate chips, peanut butter, dulce de leche, pretzels, make it rocky road with grahams and marshmallows, I mean, the possibilities are endless.

Katharine Hepburn Brownies. Chocolate Brownies.
Katharine Hepburn Brownies. Easy Recipe.
The rumor is that this recipe was given to a gossip columnist Liz Smith by the one and only Katharine Hepburn.
60 g (2 oz) dark chocolate
113 g (4 oz) unsalted butter
200 g (7 oz, or 1 cup) sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 eggs
30 g (1 oz, or 1/4 cup) flour
1/4 tsp salt
100 g (3.5 oz, or 1 cup) walnut halves
Preheat the oven to 165 C (325 F).
In a heatproof bowl, break chocolate into pieces, add butter. Place the bowl over a pot with simmering water, melt chocolate and butter. Bring the bowl back to the table, add sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, flour and salt, mix everything well. Add the walnuts, mix well, so the nuts are evenly distributed in the batter.
Line a 23 x 23 cm (9 x 9) square pan with foil, put some butter or oil on the foil, so when brownies are ready and cool you can take them out easily. Pour the batter in the foiled tin.
Bake in a preheated oven for about 40 minutes. Brownies are ready when toothpick inserted in them comes out with a few crumbs.
Cool them completely, then cut into 16 or 25 pieces (or as you desire).
And enjoy!
Why This Woman Says Katharine Hepburn's Brownie Recipe Wrecked Her Marriage
Could a recipe for brownies be so delicious it actually broke up a marriage? Sydne Newberry's brownies are reputed to be fantastic. The recipe actually comes from legendary actress Katharine Hepburn, and she had some slight tweaks to the star's directions. The changes might have made them better, but cost her a husband. She says she invited a friend to come to her home to learn how to make them. That invitation turned out to be a recipe for marital disaster. #InsideEdition

Katharine Hepburn Brownies Recipe Demonstration - Joyofbaking.com
Recipe here: Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Katharine Hepburn Brownies. Katharine Hepburn Brownies are named after the famous actor. The story goes that gossip columnist Liz Smith got the recipe from the actress to publish in her column. That was about 25 years ago and since then these brownies have only grown in popularity. This brownie recipe appears in countless cookbooks and with good reason. They are delicious. While the top crust is dry and cracked, underneath they are sweet, moist, and chewy, with a pleasing chocolate flavor. You can eat them warm, at room temperature, or even cold.
