Baking Gingerbread in Finnish✨ | Learn Finnish
*Remember to turn on the subtitles!* :) They will appear in both Finnish and English.
Hi guys! This is not my typical painting video, for I am preparing for Christmas ????❄️✨ I attempted to make gingerbread cookies from scratch. They're a little splotchy, but other than that they turned out pretty good. They are crispy and taste yummy! ????
*Recipe:* 2 dl sugar 1½ dl dark syrup ¾ dl water 3 tbsp gingerbread spice mix (+ pinch of cardamom if desired!) ¼ ts salt 150g butter or margarine 2 ts soda ∼ 7½ dl flour
Heat the butter/margarine, syrup and sugar together in a small pan until the mix boils, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool slightly. Add spice mix and salt, mix.
Mix flour and soda together in a separate bowl. Pour in the buttery syrup mixture and mix together to form a dough. The dough will be soft at this point, but it’ll firm up in the fridge. Cover the bowl with foil and place in the fridge.
The next day, take a portion of dough at a time and roll it thin. Add flour if needed. Cut out shapes using a cookie cutter. Place the shapes on a tray lined with baking sheet, and bake in 200 °C for ∼7 min. Leave to cool completely on a flat surface.
Store in a metal or glass jar, or freeze.
