Hello and Happy New Year my Friends, welcome to my Southern Kitchen; hope all of y’all are doing well, staying safe, healthy and having a great New Year so far!! Welcome to my first cooking video of 2022!
Today’s recipe for 2022, I am making my next favorite breakfast dish next to Pancakes, Oatmeal but with a twist, Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal! Smooth, creamy, and full of flavor with the right amount of sweetness; this classic breakfast dish will help you get your day started and once you taste this, you will never buy the package of Instant Oatmeal from the grocery store again, it is step by step and everyone will love and enjoy this!
Ellen’s Breakfast and Brunch recipes playlist:
1 cup water
1/2 cup whole milk, evaporated milk or half and half (half milk, half heavy cream)
3/4 cup quick 1 minute oatmeal
Pinch salt, optional
1 tablespoon packed light or dark brown sugar, plus more for garnish (optional)
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup, plus more for garnish (optional)
Chopped pecans, for garnish (optional)
In a medium saucepan over high heat, add the water and milk and bring to a boil. Add in the oatmeal and salt (if desired) reduce the heat to medium and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and add and stir in the brown sugar and maple syrup. Let the oatmeal sit until desired thickness is reached about 2 to 3 minutes. Pour the oatmeal into a serving bowl, garnish with a drizzle of maple syrup, pecans, and brown sugar (if desired), serve and enjoy!
