HOW TO MAKE A TAMALE CASSEROLE WITH MASA | TAMAL DE CAZUELA
Hello my beautiful fam! Welcome back to my kitchen today I’m going to share with you how I make a easy and delicious tamal Casserole also known as tamal de cazuela, this recipe is super easy yet time consuming ???? but it saves you a lot of time, instead of spreading the masa in an individual husk you get to just spread it in one big dish, today I’m sharing with you my whole family’s favorite, tamales rojos, but you can do the same process with YOUR favorite filling,That’s the beauty of making tamales, the variety of fillings for them are endless, get creative and make your whole family happy! keep in mind like every recipe and every household there are tons of variations that make this delicious recipe, you can always adjust it to your taste, I really hope you enjoy it as much as me and my family do, and as always if you do please don’t forget to give me a big thumbs up, comment down below your thoughts and if you new to my channel please hit that subscribe buttons so you can be part of our family!!!!!! ????
I used a 6qt Dutch over or you can use you favorite dish, you can also use banana leaves but tbh I don’t think it mixes too well with the masa it changes the flavor overall, I will definitely use them for more of a chicken or green salsa tho ????

Ingredients: about 9 servings and it’s not spicy ☺️ the flavor is just perfect ????but you can always use your favorite filling
Corn husks or parchment paper
Filing:
2lbs chick pot roast
1/2 onion
3 garlic cloves
3 bay leaves
Salt
Masa:
3 cups Maseca for tamal
3/4 lard
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 cup broth
8 New Mexico or guajillo chile pods
2 chile pasillas/ancho
Chile árbol, I use 5
6 tomatillos
1/2 onion
2 garlic cloves
1 1/2 cup broth
1/2 tsp whole cumin

1 Box Jiffy Cornbread Mix
1 large egg
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup steam corn
1 medium onion chopped
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 cloves garlic minced
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter
1 pound 80/20 ground beef
1 cup red enchilada sauce
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 cup monetary jack cheese
1 tablespoon cooking oil
salt and black pepper to taste

Chicken Tamale Pie

Ingredients
3 cups diced cooked chicken (about 12 ounces)
1 1/2 cups prepared salsa
One 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 scallions (white and green parts), sliced
3/4 cup cornmeal
1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Sour cream, for serving
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Heat the chicken, salsa, beans, 1/2 cup of the broth and the chili powder in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet over medium heat, stirring, until simmering. Stir in the scallions and remove from the heat.
Meanwhile, combine the cornmeal with the remaining 1 cup broth and 1 cup water in a medium pan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring, until very thick, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the cheese and butter. Season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
Spread the cornmeal mixture over the filling and bake until cooked through, about 30 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes. Serve with sour cream.

HOW TO MAKE TAMALE PIE - Chicken Tamale Pie Recipe
Hello All, I am back with my first recipe of the year. Tamale Pie! This is a delicious comfort food casserole. You can use the meat filling of your choice! You can also go vegetarian and use a saute of your favorite veggies. This recipe easily serves 6 to 9 single servings. I hope you enjoy the video!
INGREDIENTS
2 lb rotisserie chicken (shredded)
8 oz block cheddar cheese (shredded)
ENCHILADA SAUCE
1 1/2 tbls chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp ground cumin
3 tbls flour
1 tomato flavored chicken buillion cube
1/4 cup oil
2 cups water
CORNBREAD
2 cups yellow corn meal
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 tbls baking powder
2 tsp sea salt (use less if using table salt)
3 tbls sugar
1/4 cup oil
2 1/2 cups whole milk
**You can also just use 2 boxes of jiffy cornbread mix
**Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
**Bake Casserole for 22 - 25 minutes
