How To make Vegetable Momos
2 tb Ghee
1/2 tb Minced ginger
1/2 tb Minced garlic
1/2 c Diced onion
1 ts Garam masala
1/2 ts Chili
1/4 ts Pepper
1/4 ts Salt
1 tb Soy sauce
2 c Mixed vegetables, parboiled
-- finely chopped 1 c Tofu, squeezed & crumbled
Momo wrappers see recipe Momo sauce - see recipe Melt ghee in a wok or skillet. Add ginger, garlic & onion & stir fry for 1 minute. Add garam masala, chili powder, pepper, salt & soy sauce. Stir-fry for 30 seconds. Add vegetables & mix well. Remove from heat & place in a bowl. Add tofu & toss well. Allow to cool & drain off excess liquid. Put 1 tb of filling into each momo wrapper & seal closed with a little water.
Steam over a steaming rack for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve hot with momo sauce. Adapted from Betty Jung, "The Kopan Cookbook"

Steamed Veg momos is a popular recipe of Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal. This healthy veg steamed momos is very easy to prepare with refined flour and some veggies. It is served along with veg mayonnaise and chilly sauce.

Ingredients
Refined flour - 1 cup (125 grams)
Oil - 2 tbsp
Cabbage - 1 (300-350 grams)
Carrot - 1 (50-60 grams)
Green coriander - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Green chilly - 1 (finely chopped)
Ginger baton - 1/2 inch (grated)
Salt - 1/4 tsp + more than 1/2 tsp or to taste
Method
Take out the flour in a bowl. Mix salt and oil and knead soft dough with water. Leave the dough covered for half an hour.
Till then let's make the pitthi.
(as per taste you can also use onion or garlic)
Put the ghee in a frying pan and heat it. Add the cut vegetables to the hot ghee. Mix black pepper, red chili, salt and coriander and fry for 2 minutes while stirring. Now crush the paneer into coarse powder and mix in the frying pan. Fry for another 1 to 2 minutes. The pitthi to fill in the momos is ready (If you also want onion or garlic then fry them before adding the vegetables).
Take out a small lump from the dough, shape it like a ball and flatten it with roller into a disk like shape with 3 inches diameter. Put pitthi in the center of the flattened dough and by folding from all the corners close it. Like this prepare the entire dough into pitthi filled pieces.
Now we have to cook the momos in steam. To do this you can use the special utensil for steaming the momos. In this special utensil, four to five utensils are piled on top of each other and the bottom section is a little bigger to fill the water. The above three or four utensils have a net like bottom.
Fill 1/3 of the bottom most utensil with water and heat it. Put the momos in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th utensil. About 12 to 14 momos will fit in one utensil. Cook in the steam for 10 minutes. The momos in the second last utensil are cooked. Keep this utensil on the top and pull down the other two utensils. After 8 minutes repeat the above process. And let them steam for another 5 to 6 minutes. We have been reducing the time because all utensils are on top of one another and the steam also cooks a little the momos in the upper uttensils. The momos are ready.
If you don't have the special utensil to make the momos then put a filter stand in a big bottomed utensil and keep the momos on top of the filter. Fill water, at the bottom of the filter stand, in the utensil and heat it for 10 minutes. The momos are ready, take them out in a plate. If you have more momos then repeat the above step.
The delicious Vegetable Momos are now ready to serve and eat along with red chili or coriander chutney.

Momos is a popular street food. It is steamed dumpling with different stuffing. Today we are making veg momos on your huge demand. These turn out really yummy. This is authentic north Indian style recipe. This can be a good variation for your evening snack or even breakfast. It is very easy and simple recipe. You can try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me. Do not forget to like, share and subscribe.
Ingredients:
• 1 cup finely grated Cabbage
• 1/2 cup finely grated Carrot
• Finely chopped Onion
• Salt to taste
• 1 cup Maida
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp Oil
• Water
• Finely chopped Garlic
• 1/2 tsp grated Ginger
• Finely chopped Green chili
• Black pepper powder
• Finely chopped Coriander leaves (Optional)
Method:
• Take cabbage, carrot, onion, salt in a strainer and mix well.
• Rest the veggies mixture aside for about 30 minutes.
• Take maida in a dish and add salt, oil.
• You can use wheat flour in place of maida.
• Mix well and add a little water at a time to knead a little stiff dough.
• Cover and rest the dough for about 30 minutes.
• Squeeze out as much water as possible from the veggies and transfer into a bowl.
• You can use the squeezed water for making dal or for making vegetable soup.
• Add garlic, ginger, green chili, black pepper powder, coriander leaves to the veggies and mix
well.
• Adding coriander leaves is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want.
• Stuffing is ready.
• Take the dough and knead it once to make smooth and even.
• Make small balls form the dough and make them smooth and even.
• Take one dough ball and roll it into as thin disc as possible.
• Fill the stuffing and begin to fold from the center of the disc to make plates.
• Lift the other half edge and close it up with the plates. Seal it well.
• Grease the steamer dish well with oil and transfer the momos into it.
• You can steam the momos in idly plates or even in a dish.
• Steam momos on medium heat for just 10 minutes.
• Remove the lid and take the momos out.
• Momos are all ready.
• You can make around 17-18 momos from 1 cup maida.
