1/2 Lb Cream Cheese 1 C Butter Or Margarine 2 C Flour Confectioner's Sugar Walnut Halves Mix together cream cheese and butter. Mix in flour and chill. Roll dough on wax paper which has been spread with confedctioner's sugar. This dough will absorb 1 cup or more of sugar. Roll about 1/8 inch thich. Cut 1 x 3-inches. Place 1/2 walnut on center of dough. Roll up, pinch and seal. Place folded side down in cookie sheet. Bake 15 to 17 minutes. 375 degrees. Sprinkle with confectoner's sugar when baked. Cookies: ½ cup butter, softened ¾ cup confectioners' sugar 2 Tbsp milk 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 ½ cups all purpose flour 1/8 tsp salt 24 maraschino cherries
Glaze: 1 cup confectioners' sugar 1 Tbsp butter, melted 2 Tbsp maraschino cherry juice Additional confectioners' sugar
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. In large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add milk and vanilla. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. 3. Divide dough into 24 portions; shape each portion around a cherry, forming a ball. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool. 4. For glaze, combine sugar, butter, and cherry juice until smooth. Drizzle over cookies. Dust with confectioners' sugar. Yield: 2 dozen.
