⮕ Prawn cocktail or shrimp cocktail is a seafood dish consisting of shelled, cooked prawns in a Marie Rose sauce or cocktail sauce and served in a glass. Prawn cocktail was the most popular hors d'œuvre in Great Britain, as well as in the United States, from the 1960s to the late 1980s. Prawn cocktail sauce is usually referred to as cocktail sauce, and is essentially ketchup plus mayonnaise in Commonwealth countries, or ketchup and horseradish in the United States. Recipes may add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, vinegar, cayenne pepper or lemon juice. Clams or oysters can also be substituted for the seafood.

Recipe: Parmesan & Herb Crisps
Cheesy and simply irresistible, these crisps are perfect for topping soups, serving cocktail bites or nibbling on with drinks. They look impressive but take less than 15 minutes. Try them this weekend:
Parmesan & Herb Crisps
Prep time: 10 min.
Total time: 20 min.
Makes: 16 crisps
1 cup (250 mL) freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano (approx. 4 oz/125 g)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp (15 mL) finely chopped fresh parsley
1 tbsp (15 mL) finely chopped fresh chives
1/2 tsp (2 mL) finely grated lemon zest
1/4 tsp (1 mL) pepper
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Toss cheese with garlic, parsley, chives, lemon zest and pepper until combined. Mound generous tablespoonfuls of mixture onto parchment paper-lined baking sheets at least 2 in. (5 cm) apart. Tamp down gently with back of spoon to flatten slightly.
2. Bake 7 to 10 min., or until golden brown and crisp. Cool completely. Store in airtight container, between wax paper or parchment paper, up to two days.
Tip: Grate fresh cheese with coarse side of box grater for best results.
