How To make Dutch Pot Pie
3 ea Egg
1 T Butter, melted
1/2 c Milk
1/2 c Cream
1 t Soda
3 c Flour
1/2 t Salt
1 x Potato
1 x Parsley, minced
1 x Butter
Beat eggs, add milk, cream, soda, salt and melted butter. Mix well. Gradually add flour until dough is stiff enough to roll. (May require up to 4 cups). Roll on floured board and line a cooking kettle with the dough. Place a large piece of butter in bottom of kettle and add peeled and quartered potatoes alternately with small pieces of the dough. The top layer should be potatoes. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and minced parsley. Dot with butter. Add 1 1/2 to 2 cups water. Bake at 350-F about 3 hours. In this recipe video I show you how to make Amish beef and chicken pot pie from start to finish. The homemade pot pie noodles are doughy, eggy, rich and delicious. This is another recipe from the Pennsylvania Dutch Amish country. Not the typical meat pie with a crust but a stew like dish with a rich meat broth, veggies and wonderful homemade egg noodles called Pot Pie.

Amish Pot Pie ~ How to make Pot Pie Noodles
INGREDIENTS:
POT PIE NOODLES:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening
2-4 large eggs
water
extra flour for rolling
Combine the above ingredients in a bowl to make
a dough. You may need to add water or more flour
to make the dough come together...making sure
all the flour is absorbed and coming off the
sides of the bowl. Will be a little sticky.
Flour surface and rolling pin very well.
Roll out dough to approx. 1/8 or more thickness.
Cut noodles. I cut into 1 1/2 to 2 square noodles.
In a saucepan bring broth up to a boil and add onions,
carrots and salt and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Add pot pie noodles stirring occasionally and bring
up to boil.
Add diced potatoes and simmer for 20-30 minutes until
potatoes are done and pot pie noodles are tender.
A very hearty and satisfying meal. Enjoy.

Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken Pot Pie (with Mom)
Pennsylvania Dutch pot pie is a stew originated by the Amish without a crust but with wide dumpling-style dough square noodles. Most commonly made with chicken, potatoes, and sometimes vegetables such as carrots or celery.
Recipe:
1 Diced onion
3-4 Diced carrots
3-4 Diced celery stocks
Sauté for 2-3 minutes
Add 1-1.5lbs of chicken
4 Cups of chicken broth
Bring to boil, reduce heat, and simmer until chicken is cooked. (About 20 min)
Remove chicken and shred
Add potatoes as desired
Bring back to simmer
Noodles:
3 eggs
2 cups of flour
1/2 cup milk
Mix
Stretch dough until thin, cut into squares
(If dough is too stiff or dry add more milk)
Add noodles to simmering pot, one at a time while stirring to keep noodles moist and prevent clumping. Cook until noodles are cooked throughout (about 20-30 min)
(If soup is too thick add water or broth)
