Crust 1/2 cup becel
1 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Filling 1/3 cup raspberry jam
8 ounces light cream cheese
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
6 apples -- peeled cored sliced
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Cut becel into the flour, add sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Press mixture into 9" spring form pan. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spread jam on top of crust. Blend cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla and pour evenly on top of jam. Combine apples, sugar and cinnamon and arrange in overlapping pinwheel pattern on top of the cheese mixture. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 mins. then reduce temperature to 400 degrees and bake for 25 mins. Remove the sides when cool This is best served at room temperature.

The most common mistake in making pie dough is the amount of added water. Depending on the flour you use, you might need to add more or less than a recipe recommends.

2c + 2tbsp (300g) AP flour
1 tbsp (13g) sugar
1 tsp salt
8 oz (227g) butter, cold and cubed
4oz (113g) water, cold
combine the dry ingredients. add the cold, cubed butter and work into the dries until about the size of a blueberry. add all but a little of the cold water. mix with a spatula. check to see if the dough needs the rest of the water and maybe any more by squeezing the dough. wrap in plastic and chill at least 30 min before using.

Isabel Ely Lord created the earliest written record of this recipe in 1924 in the Everybody's Cookbook. However, it didn't become popularized until WWII when pastry products like sugar, butter, and flour were rationed. The more elaborate apple pie was out, and the apple crisp was in.

The Most Delicious Apple Galette with Puff Pastry: Easier than Apple Pie!!!

Ingredients
1 (12oz/340g) puff pastry sheet
For the Caramel Sauce:
2 cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup water
6 oz butter, cubed
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
a pinch of salt
For the Apple Filling:
4 large apples (Gala, Granny Smith, or Pink Lady) peeled and cored
juice of half lemon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
The egg wash:
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
granulated sugar for topping
Serve with:
ice cream
toasted chopped pecans
confectioner's sugar
Instructions
Make the Caramel Sauce: In a deep saucepan, combine the water and sugar and cook over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes or until a caramle color is reached. Remove from heat and add the butter. Whisk together while wearing oven mitts. The steam is dangerously hot! Add the cream and vanilla and return to medium-heat. Cook for 3-4 minutes while stirring. Add a pinch of salt and pass through a strainer and into a heat-ptoof bowl. As it cools, the caramel sauce will thicken.
Assemble the Galette:
Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet 3-4 inches on all sides. Transfer to a baking tray lined with parchment paper and chill in the freezer while the apple filling is prepared.
Slice the apples 1/8-1/4 inch thick and place the slices into a large bowl. Top with the brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Toss together until the apples are coated.
Arrange the apples in the center of the puff pastry sheet. Leave a 3-inch border.
Fold the puff pastry crust over the edge of the apple filling to create a border. Press together to seal (see video).
Combine the egg and milk in a bowl and whisk together. Brush the eggwash over the crust and sprinkle with some granulated sugar.
Chill the galette in the freezer while the oven preheats.
3. Preheat the oven to 400 °F, 200 °C.
4. Bake the Galette on the center rack for 40-45 minutes.
5. As soon as the galette comes out of the oven drizzle about a cup of the caramel sauce over the apples.
6. Serve with ice cream and Greek Coffee.

Notes
The Caramel sauce keeps fresh in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks and in the freezer for over a month.
