How To make Favorite Egg Nog
24 Eggs, separated
2 c Sugar
1 qt Bourbon
2 c Brandy
1 qt Heavy cream
2 qt Milk
1 qt Vanilla ice cream
Nutmeg Beat egg yolks and sugar until thick. Add Bourbon and Brandy and stir thoroughly. (The liquor "cooks" the eggs.) Add cream and milk and continue whipping. Break up the ice cream and add. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg. NOTE1: This is fairly potent and deceptively smooth, so you might wish to cut back on the Bourbon and Brandy a little. NOTE2: If you can get it where you are, then the only ice cream to use in this recipe is on of the following BLUE BELL CREAMERY flavors - Natural Vanilla Bean, Homemade Vanilla, or French Vanilla. NOTE3: Any good bourbon or sour mash will do, but Old Forester seems to add a special something to the taste. As for the brandy, don't waste the VSOP, but don't use that buck-fifty-a-liter varnish remover that you picked up on that last trip to Tijuana, either.

Homemade Eggnog - Brandy, Nutmeg and Simplicity make it Perfect!
Brandy, nutmeg and simplicity make it perfect!
Homemade eggnog just wouldn't be the same without brandy and nutmeg! Not only do they add a deep, rich flavour to this iconic holiday beverage, but the combination of nutmeg and brandy provides an added warmth that's sure to linger. This is like a Brandy Alexander cocktail.
You can of course add further spices such as clove, ginger, cinnamon etc. I prefer the simplistic version as per this recipe. Plus, one secret ingredient we all have in our kitchens.
Homemade eggnog is so much more than just a simple drink – it is something to be savoured with family and friends to celebrate the joy of the season. Upon arrival of your guests, hand them some eggnog in a cocktail glass within 60 seconds. That’s what a good host does, and it says Merry Christmas. You could also add some crushed ice, freshly grated nutmeg and a little drinking chocolate powder on top.
Whether you like yours extra creamy or downright boozy like me, with a generous sprinkling of nutmeg or an extra splash of brandy, savour each sip of homemade eggnog. One of the most popular holiday beverages around!

Virginian-Pilot article on George Washington's eggnog recipe (actually his lack thereof):
***EGGNOG RECIPE, MAKES ABOUT A QUART/LITER***
1 cup (237mL) cream
1 cup (237mL) additional cream or milk
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
2 eggs
1 cup (237mL) rum
1/2 cup (118mL) whiskey
nutmeg for garnish
Whip the first cup of cream in a small bowl. In a big bowl, beat the eggs and slowly drizzle in the alcohol until incorporated — don't stop mixing, or the eggs will curdle. It's important to mix the alcohol directly into the eggs to kill bacteria. Mix in the sugar, un-whipped cream or milk and the whipped cream until smooth.
Transfer the eggnog to a vessel that will allow gas to escape and chill in the refrigerator for about three weeks — aging will kill bacteria and enhance the flavor. The mixture will separate a bit as it sits, so stir it back up before pouring into glasses. Sprinkle nutmeg over top, if you're into that.
Is this the greatest EGGNOG recipe of all time?
Time to steal another NOG recipe! This year I'm hijacking not one but two of Jeffrey Morgenthaler's eggnog recipes.. first of which is a base nog recipe and second is a unique tequila & sherry eggnog resulting in a nutty twist.

Eggnog National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation | How to Drink
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is one of my favorite Christmas Movies and today I'm making Clark Griswold's Egg Nog. It's good, it's good, it's good good it's good.
Christmas Vacation came out in 1989 and was the third film in National Lamoon's Vacation series. The second was of course the European Vacation and nobody liked that. Happily Christmas Vacation was hilarious and made everyone love the series again ( I Think it was the return of Cousin Eddy but what do I know?) It's now a Christmas Classic and a movie shown in most houses around the holidays, and it's got Egg Nog in it, served in moose mugs (and later just aggressively scooped from the bowl in tiny cups). I love egg nog but if you've never had home made egg nog, maybe you don't? If you've never had it made from scratch frankly you've never had egg nog. This recipe bears almost no resemblance to the stuff you get in the carton at the gas station. It's not a heavy thick syrup, it's a light and airy and boozey drink and it's really just perfect this time of year.
