Grape-nut Custard Pudding - HAPPY HOLIDAYS 2023
This custard recipe dates back to the early 1900s and was served in fine restaurants especially in New England where it was a favorite. I grew up with this dessert and make it to this day. With the holidays coming up I thought it would be good to present this as a Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving or Christmas dessert. You can make it ahead and serve on the day of the big meal. Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
1 Cup Grape-nut cereal
1 quart whole milk
5 large eggs (well beaten & strained)
3 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Freshly grated nutmeg
