Master The Classics: Harvey Wallbanger
The Harvey Wallbanger is said to have been invented in 1952 by three time world champion bartender Donato Duke Antone at the Blackwatch Bar in Los Angeles. That said, recent reasearch by cocktail writer Robert Simonson indicated that this is probably NOT the genesis of this particular cocktail. Firstly there is no verifiable evidence that a bar called the Blackwatch ever existed and according to Simonson's research, Antone was living in Connecticut in the time period the drink was supposedly created. Other historians such as David Wondrich posit that it was possibly the marketing team of the McKesson Import Company that have credit for the drink's creation. In the 1960's they created a Harvey Wallbanger Sandal clad surfer mascot to promote the drink and it is known that a McKesson executive named George Bednar was instrumental in promoting the drink as a means of increasing sales of Galliano. So there you have it, everything we know about the Harvey Wallbanger! Enjoy the drink or at least the video of the drink!
Note on Video: Don't be confused by the Honey Syrup bottle I left on set. It was an oversight, I guess this time I forgot to take something off set as opposed to something in the video LOL.

Cake:
Set oven to 350 and grease a bundt pan
Mix (with an electric mixer to get the batter smooth):
1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
1 3.5 oz Box Instant Vanilla Pudding
4 Eggs
1/2 Cup Orange Juice
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
4 oz Galliano
1 oz Vodka
Mix well, about 2 minutes, until batter is smooth. Pour in your greased bundt pan and bake 40-45 minutes testing for doneness at 40 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes then invert your cake on to a platter. Let's make the glaze!
Glaze:
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 oz Vodka
1 oz Galliano
Poke several holes in your cake and start spooning the glaze around the cake. Go slowly so the glaze can absorb into your cake. Poke additional holes if needed and don't rush this process.
Garnish, if desired, with orange slices.
Cocktail:
In a tall glass with ice mix:
1 1/4 oz Vodka
3 oz Orange Juice
Float 1/2 oz Galliano on top (there are no substitutions)
Garnish with an orange slice and enjoy the 1970s!
