Eggnog, historically also known (when alcoholic) as milk punch or egg milk punch, is a rich, chilled, sweetened, creamy dairy-based beverage traditionally made with milk and/or cream, sugar, whipped eggs (which gives it a frothy texture) and, in some contexts, distilled spirits such as brandy, rum or bourbon or all three!

Eggnog National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation | How to Drink
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is one of my favorite Christmas Movies and today I'm making Clark Griswold's Egg Nog. It's good, it's good, it's good good it's good.
Christmas Vacation came out in 1989 and was the third film in National Lamoon's Vacation series. The second was of course the European Vacation and nobody liked that. Happily Christmas Vacation was hilarious and made everyone love the series again ( I Think it was the return of Cousin Eddy but what do I know?) It's now a Christmas Classic and a movie shown in most houses around the holidays, and it's got Egg Nog in it, served in moose mugs (and later just aggressively scooped from the bowl in tiny cups). I love egg nog but if you've never had home made egg nog, maybe you don't? If you've never had it made from scratch frankly you've never had egg nog. This recipe bears almost no resemblance to the stuff you get in the carton at the gas station. It's not a heavy thick syrup, it's a light and airy and boozey drink and it's really just perfect this time of year.
Clark Griswold's Egg Nog
• 4 Egg Whites
• 1 Tbs. -or- 12.5 G Sugar
• Beat to Still Peaks
• Set Aside
• 4 egg yolks
• .25 c -or- 50 g sugar
• 2 c -or- 475 ml. whole milk
• 1 c -or- 237 ml. heavy cream
• 2 oz. -or- 60 ml Bourbon (to taste, pour heavy)
• 2 oz. -or- 60 ml Rum (to taste, pour heavy)
• Pinch of Salt
• Nutmeg to taste
• Mix Thoroughly
• Fold in Egg Whites
• Serve in Moose Cup with Nutmeg For Garnish

How about an eggnog holiday cocktail?! ???? ????
Holiday Eggnog Recipe
Happy Holidays from all of us here at Not Chef Ryan! Like or Subscribe for new videos weekly! This classic eggnog recipe is great for holiday parties, and works so well as a gift. Our mission at the Not Chef Ryan Show is to encourage people to share the gift of food with those they love. We think that sitting down at the table with friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors to share a meal is the cornerstone for building communities. During this holiday season, take a moment to sit down and nurture the relationships you have with the people in your life.
To make your Holiday Eggnog you'll need:
For the base:
2 cups of milk
1 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 stick of cinnamon
3 star anise
12-16 whole cloves
6 egg yolks
3/4 cup white sugar
2 cups of heavy cream
For the rum:
I used Bacardi for this recipe, but you can use any dark rum. I like to add 3 to 4 star anise as well as a teaspoon of whole cloves to 2 cups of dark rum. I leave that for about 24 hours in 2 cups of rum before straining out the bits. You can substitute with Captain Morgan spiced rum, or any spiced rum, but I really like to spice my own rum. I like the flavor much better. If you like a much stronger concoction you can make this with 1 1/2 cups of spiced rum and 1/2 cup of Bacardi 151.
Start by bringing your milk to a very light boil on medium to medium low heat. Add your vanilla, cinnamon, star anise, and cloves. Keep on a light boil stirring occasionally for 8 to 10 minutes. Strain your milk mixture. Add your egg yolks to a mixing bowl with your sugar and mix until smooth. As it is mixing, begin to slowly add the warm milk mixture to the egg yolk and sugar mix. Once you have added that, add 2 cups of heavy sweet cream, then add your rum. Allow that to mix for 3 minutes, then place in a container. Refrigerate overnight and shake well before serving.
