1 1/2 c Pink lentils 3/4 ts Turmeric 2 ts Salt 5 tb Ghee 6 lg Garlic cloves Wash lentils. Place in a deep pot with the turmeric & 5 cups of water. Bring to a bol, stirring often. Reduce heat to medium-low & simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Turn off heat & beat lentils with a wire whisk to smooth the puree. Stir in the salt. When ready to serve, simemr the puree till pi[ping hot. Special Sabit Masoor Written Recipe With Directions:
Ingredients:
-Black lentil gram (desi kali masoor daal) 250g Soaked in water for ½ hour. -Water (pani) 3 bowls -Salt (namak) 1 tsp or to taste -Red chili (lal mirch) powder 1 tsp or to taste -Tumeric (haldi) powder ¼ tsp -Onion (piyaz) ½ -Green Chillies (hari mirch) 5 -Ginger (adrak) 1 inch -Garlic (lehsan) cloves 5-6 For Tadka: -Cooking oil ½ bowl -Garlic (lehsan) cloves chopped 5-6 -White cumin seeds (zeera) ½ tsp -Dried coriander (khushk dhania) powder 1 tsp -Ground mixed spices (garam masala) powder ½ tsp Directions: -In a chopper, add onion, green chilies, ginger, and garlic and chop well. -In a pressure cooker, add black lentil gram, water, prepared chopped paste, salt, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Cover and cook for 20 min (3 mins whistle time and 17 mins pressure time) on medium flame. -Cook on medium flame until water is dry. -In a pan, add cooking oil and heat it. Add garlic and cook until light brown in color. Now, add white cumin seeds, dried coriander powder, and ground mixed spices and mix well. -Add the tadka to cooked black lentil gram and cook it for 1-2 mins. -Dish out, garnish with fresh coriander, serve and enjoy with roti or rice.
Tips and Tricks:
-If you don’t want to use a pressure cooker, soak the black lentil gram for 1-1.5 hours -The amount of water is always three times of the black lentil gram. -If you are using a new pressure cooker, then add 2 drops of cooking oil and apply oil on the rubber inside the lid of the pressure cooker.
