Treacle Scones - British War Time Recipe
This recipe is from the 1943 March edition of Ideal Home magazine. A British publication that compiled 50 years of favorite bakes. Treacle and potato flakes were readily available in the rationed pantry and as usual, Brits figures out a way to “Keep calm and carry on” even when it came to tea time.

Treacle Scones

Treacle and date scones
Traditional Scottish treacle and date scones. Vanilla essence can be removed for a more traditional recipe. Delicious with butter but can also be enjoyed with heavy creams and preserves.
