How To make Mange Tout and Carrots with Soy Sauce.
300 g 10 oz baby carrots
350 g 12 oz mange tout, trimmed.
30 ml 2 tbsp soy sauce.
Half clove garlic, crushed. 1 Cm half inch piece of fresh
Root ginger peeled and Chopped 25 g 1 oz sunflower seeds toasted
Remove the tops from the carrots, then scrub them. Bring a large steamer to the boil and steam the carrots for 5 minutes. Add the mange tout and steam for a further 2 minutes. Place the vegetables, soy sauce, garlic and ginger in a large pan and stir for one minute until thoroughly mixed. Put into a large bowl and sprinkle with the sunflower seeds.

A perfectly seasoned piece of pork served with beautifully caramelized and spicy potato wedges is a treat fit for any occasion. It comes together in 40 - 45 minutes combining comforting familiarity with the excitement of the unexpected. Serve with a tall glass of child beer or soda and tuck in; it is sure to bring you joy whether are celebrating a special occasion with your loved ones or bringing in the weekend with a bit of decadence over some good old Netflix.
INGREDIENTS (SERVES 2) ►
2 pork shoulder steaks of 150 to 180 grams each; about 1-1.5 inch thick
A drizzle of oil (about 2 tsp to marinate the steaks and 1 tbsp for the potatoes)
2 tsp to 1 tbsp of dark soy sauce ( half for marinating the steaks and the rest for the honey sriracha sauce.
2 baking potatoes, scrubbed clean
Salt to taste; I use about 1/4 tsp
1tsp of onion powder
1 tbsp of all purpose flour
2 tbsp of runny honey
2 tbsp of sriracha sauce
A glove of garlic, minced or grated
A mix of veggies of your choice; I like crisp quick cook veggies such as mange-tout, bell peppers, carrots and baby corn here
Garnish
A pinch or two of sesame seeds
Lots of finely sliced chives or spring onions

1 lb RAW large or jumbo shrimp, deveined and rinsed with cool water and a little lemon juice
Marinade for shrimp:
2 1/2 tsps Soy sauce
2 tsps Shaoxing Chinese cooking wine (Get from the international aisle or an asian store plz)
1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
Black pepper to taste

Sauce Ingredients:
2 tsps soy sauce
2 tbsps Shaoxing wine
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup Chicken broth
1 tsp rice vinegar (get from asian section of supermarket or asian food store)

Suggested Substitutes:
Shaoxing wine - Mirin or Dry Sherry or a little salt
Chicken broth - Shrimp broth or vegetable broth or Mix hot water with a little boullion or a chicken/shrimp seasoning packet from a ramen pack

Little Miss Meat Free - Sweet and Sour with Cashews
Nothing beats a Chinese takeaway; I urge you to try this recipe as it will take less time to prepare than ordering a takeaway! Serve with rice and as many vegetable spring rolls as you can eat.
Serves 2
Ingredients
For the sauce:
50g brown sugar
50g malt vinegar
150g tomato ketchup
1 small tin pineapple chunks, drained
1 tbsp soy sauce
For the stirfry:
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 carrots, peeled and sliced
1 red pepper, sliced
2 spring onions, chopped
10 mange tout
6 babycorns
½ tin water chestnuts
2 handfuls cashew nuts
Method
Add all of the ingredients for the sweet and sour sauce into a pan, bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, heat vegetable oil in a wok. Add the carrots, pepper, onions, mange tout and babycorns and stirfry for 6-8 minutes.
Add the water chestnuts and cashew nuts and pour over the sauce. Stir-fry for 1 further minute.
