How To make Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns
1 1/4 cups warm water (about 100F)
1/3 cup mild oil
1/4 cup sugar (or honey)
2 packages yeast (2 scant Tbsp)
4 teaspoons salt
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup bread flour (or all-purpose flour)
Melted butter
Combine water, oil, sugar and yeast. Mix thoroughly and then allow to rest for 15 minutes. Mix in the salt, egg yolk, whole wheat flour, and white flour and combine until thoroughly mixed (at least 10 minutes). On a floured board, roll the dough out until it is about 3/4-inch thick. cut circles of dough about 4-inch in diameter with a cutter (or use a large empty can that you have washed out).
Place the buns on a cookie sheet, brush the tops with melted butter, and allow to raise for 30 minutes.
Bake at 425F for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
YIELD: 10 buns

Let Me Show You How To Make Fluffy Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns!
Whole wheat hamburger buns are so much easier to make than you might think. Let me walk you through, step-by-step how to make your own hamburger buns.
Ingredients
2 cups warm water
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
4 cups white whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons canola oil or other neutral oil
1 egg for egg wash
1 tablespoon milk for egg wash
toppings of choice
How to make
Start by activating the yeast. Add the water, brown sugar, and yeast to your mixing bowl. Mix them to incorporate, then let it sit for about 5 minutes.
Add the flour, salt, and oil. Start mixing on medium speed or knead by hand. Mix for 1 minute on medium speed and check the dough. It should feel just SLIGHTLY sticky or tacky.
If you need to add a tablespoon or 2 of water or flour. Turn the mixer on medium and mix for 7-8 minutes until the dough is smooth.
Cover and let it rise for 45 minutes to 1 hour. It should be just about doubled. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place 5 balls on each baking sheet, be sure to give them several inches between each other.
Spray the top of the balls and cover with plastic wrap. Place another sheet pan on top to lightly weight it down. Let it rise like this for 20 minutes. Remove the pan.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Mix together the egg wash. When the oven is preheated, remove the plastic wrap, brush with the egg wash, then top with your toppings.
Move to the oven and bake for about 18 minutes, until the buns are golden brown. Remove them from the oven. Let them cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour - 2cups /230gms
Butter - 50 gms
Buttermilk - 1 cup / 200ml
Sugar - 1/4 cup / 50gms
Instant Yeast - 1 1/4 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Mix all and make a dough and knead only for 4 minutes and let it rest for 2 hours. After 2 hours divide it into 8 parts and make balls and place it in a greased plate and cover it for 30 minutes. give an egg wash and bake it in 180 degree pre - heated oven for 20 - 25 minutes.
